Sounds more like he kept his options open hoping to score goals this season and move up a level, which is something he's always been keen to do. But with his goal record this season, and now being injured his asked his agent to start talking again. My view is he's at the top of his level already.

According to a Telford fan I work with, there has been no bid and there has been no transfer request. However there is interest from clubs with Peterborough being mentioned, however it's likely that he will go in the summer when his contract expires. Telford have an interest as they have a 20% sell on clause.
Regarding the article, I think it's a fair assumption that he will be off in the summer, as soon as I see 'we have offered a contract' and it's not immediately followed by 'he has signed it' then I assume the player is off. You can't blame him, I would imagine he will get better wages at most clubs and whilst he may not necessarily be first choice, he will of course get more service/chances created than he has had this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up at someone like Wycombe or a promoted club from L2 with money/ambition

I find it hard to believe that Taylor has no knowledge of how the talks between Udoh's agent and Moore are going, as he states in the report.

This is the nature of football contracts

Lots of people have been asking for more dialogue and updates from the club, and feels like it's been listened to. This year now there has been updates on Udoh contract, what's happening with loans and negotiations, Bloxham returning and what his plans might be, who they are targeting etc Feels like some credit is due really as it seems like a clear effort to talk more about decisions that are being made

We were told that Taylor's job was to coach the first team, the recruitment/contract side of things sat with Moore. So it feels like Taylor is the middle man really, he's telling us what he's being told by Moore, which is of course evident in this article. Maybe this is the norm in this structure, I genuinley don't know, but when Matt Taylor is telling us "“ As far as I am aware talks are ongoing between Daniel and Micky, where that is going I don’t know", your first instinct is to ask Mickey Moore how they are going.

Well if it was offered four months ago it was well before this latest injury which may well impact on what happens next.
As ever, if he stays, he stays and if he goes, he goes. If he doesn’t want to be here and he goes on to a higher league then good luck to him.

As a striker you’d be mad to sign here, you get one half chance a month. You play for a team that creates next to nothing and have a head coach telling anyone in the media who’ll listen that your lack of goals are the only problem with the team.

As I understand it, the bid from Wrexham was rejected, he's now "injured" and has handed in a transfer request to push through a move this month.

Which is weird because who will want him until he’s fit?

I would say coming out with this now is the best time, we didn't want to alert anyone else 4 months again and we obviously wanted him to sign for us but it appears that isn't going to happen so it puts him in the shop window whilst its open

Which is weird because who will want him until he’s fit? Well they might not, but they might in 5 months when he will be free (and possibly fit)

A smart ploy. MT can correctly say negotiations are ongoing. MM can keep the details of those negotiations private, as they should be.

I doubt we are in a position to push the boat out for anyone and so I suspect a good few at this level (and perhaps in the the 4th) are in a position to offer him about the same and perhaps even more. And granted he's not that old but I would think at his age and at this stage in his career he would want to be be somewhere where he can score goals and look to impress in the hope of gaining the attention of those in the 2nd or those who have aspirations to get there. And looking to how this season has gone, that ain't us.

Which is weird because who will want him until he’s fit? I would guess its one of those injuries that instantly gets better should he want it to

NOw I didn’t think of that! I have hinted at his "injury", without directly accusing him, the sequence of events appears: - Contract talks - Bid rejected - Due to play club who bid came from - Transfer request - "Injured" Interesting times.

I think Udoh's footballing brain is on several levels above any of our other players. Put him in a top half league 1 team and he'd bang in 20 goals a season imo.

My suspicion the timing of the release is directly correlated to him either
a) refusing it b) has interest and is expected to depart
PR management for the club imo.

I really don't buy this "instant recovery from injury" line. After his return from injury he hasn't set the world on fire. Had he been fit to knock some in last Sunday there could have been a hat trick in it for him. He will depart at the end of the season I'm sure, but will get a much better deal if he knocks some of the half chances we are making now in in the meantime.
Also happen to think he's a decent man with morals.

I like Udoh but I think he has gone as far as he can with Shrewsbury in my view. He was improved by Cotterill but I see no further improvement or a glut of goals coming from him under Matt Taylor. For his own sake, I think he will opt to go and I think it's probably best.

Let's face it he's probably fairly badly in need of a rest anyway. He's played more or less every match this season off the back of about 10 months out. I imagine turning a 1-2 week injury into a 4-6 week one isn't that hard if you want to build in extra rest time/decide your future

Whatever Dan decides to do I hope that it works out well because he’s such a great person. He always gives his all when he puts on the blue and amber shirt.
