most of my week off has been spent on 'Our country'. I feel like I could be a family member lol, only just discovered the 2 main stars they wrote the programme and are actually brother and sister,
its right up my street and all 3 series are fantastic, well written, would love to see more from them
also looking at absolutely fabulous itvx, totally gave it a swerve all these years but it seems well written
any more contenders. ?

As well as Our Country, I like ‘That Office’ starring Ricky Gervais and ‘Peeping Show’ starring Mitchell and Webb.

Mrs Brown's Boys has to be the funniest show ever made (in the whole wide world) every episode is an absolute lolfest. I spend the whole time ROFL and LMFAO. Yes ...it really is that good.

As mentioned some time ago-the Australian comedy "Colin From Accounts". Most highly rated comedy of 2023 by the critics. Largely gentle humour. The US "Barry" which was rated about the same but personally did not appeal to me.

I think you might get some negative replies to this. I think it's a marmite sort of programme, you either love it or hate it. Me? I love it, though I do think some of the last few years its seemed a bit tired at times.

Two doors down is an excellent watch. Watched every episode of the six series. Sometimes its more about the looks than what is being said.

Watching Mrs Brown’s Boys is akin to riding a never-ending lollercoaster.

chirkshrew has just private messaged me to say that he thinks Mrs Brown is actually a man dressed and made up as a woman!! I'm not sure I'm buying that.

Mrs Brown's boys 0 - pretty much any other comedy 4
Mildly funny the first time it's now tired and worn out, like so much else on the BBC.

I came across Our/This Country (?) a couple of years ago. It is hilarious. Daisy May and Charlie Cooper are real life siblings and the character that plays Ker's dad is their real dad. I quite like that. For others that are slightly alternative are Green Wing (the episode where Statham kills the dwarf is pure gold) and of course Peep Show.

The New Year one was more average.

The US "Barry" which was rated about the same but personally did not appeal to me. Colin From Accounts was terrific. And if you like that you'll enjoy No Activity (made a few years ago but also on iPlayer). The same couple are in it and, as the title suggests, almost nothing happens, but the dialogue and performances are brilliant. Who knew Australians could be funny?

Mrs Browns Boys is categorically one of the worst "comedies" ever aired. It's truly woeful.

I had my annual binge on the old Porridge episodes over Christmas.
Whilst it’s nearly 50 years old and some of the language and attitudes are dated, the writing, performances and characterisation have rarely been better in any subsequent situation style comedy
The final scene in the Christmas episode where Fletcher outlines how the prisoners got rid of the tunnel soil to a slightly inebriated Mr Mackay is one of the great comedy scenes

Mrs Browns Boys is categorically one of the worst "comedies" ever aired. It's truly woeful. As said earlier Martin it's a marmite thing. Totally understand those who hate it but also understand why some think it's great. Some of the ones from about 10 years ago I can still laugh at now even though I know what's coming. Getting a bit dated I have to say nowadays.

The Two Ronnie's and Fools and Horses I used to love back in the day.

Slightly off topic, although I'm not sure if it's supposed to be comedic or not but I've watched 2 episodes so far of the new series of The Madame Blanc Mysteries on C5. I must be in the minority but this is one show that sends me to sleep.
