I booked a day off work to travel to Carlisle for this, needless to say I didn’t bother going to the rearranged fixture seven days later, and was bitterly disappointing to lose out on what would have been a decent day out to the Millennium Stadium at the time, although of course far worse was to happen just a few weeks later down the line.

Including Carlisle putting the final nail in the coffin. A side that was struggling down there with us most of the season as well.

We got to somewhere near Shap and heard the news. I was following the ASFC Wynniebus in my old Ford Fiesta. Carliar had told us at least three times on the way up that there was no problems (unknown to us they had gas heaters trying to thor the pitch). We ended up in a pub in Lancaster.

Thankfully I didnt have to go back up the following week as I was away in Majorca. Felt for those who did go though, it's a long way for a midweek evening to do it 2 weeks running.
Was quite please we put ourselves into a good position to get through to the final at Wembley though. I was back to go to the home 2nd leg to cheer us onto to glory. But we somehow failed at Carlisle got through. 😏
