Some interesting scorelines;
Fleetwood 1 Derby 3 Burton 1 Wycombe 1 Cheltenham 2 Portsmouth 1 Exeter 2 Carlisle 1 Port Vale 3 Charlton 3
We drop to 15th as a consequence of the draw between Port Vale and Charlton.
Paul Simpson's Carlisle look right in the thick of it - another awful team that points off us.
Cheltenham though, wow. What a result that is.

At least most teams below us were playing so I think only Cambridge have 2 games in hand now. Many have 1 game in hand still, but I dont think we have too much to worry about right now of getting into the relegation scrap. Obviously need more wins going forward but I'll take what weve got over those who have played less.

Well, Fleetwood and Carlisle already look odds on bankers for relegation.
That leaves 2 further places up for grabs.
Disappointing result for us at Cheltenham - I now hope that Portsmouth get overtaken by Bolton, Peterborough and Derby, with 2 of those going up automatically and the other winning the playoffs. It was bad enough them dropping points to Fleetwood at home recently.
As it is, Cheltenham no longer seem the relegation certainties they were a couple of months ago.

Could do with Barnsley putting another nail into Carlisle’s coffin tonight… come on Cosgrove do us a favour!!

Well, Fleetwood and Carlisle already look odds on bankers for relegation. It's not a given that Carlisle will be down. They got taken over in November by an American group and believe they have some funds, they've signed 3 players for 'undisclosed' fees so far in January, including our old boy Harry Lewis

Ah, those games in hand...... Burton lose last night, Carlisle tonight.
Leave 3 teams with 1 game in hand (2 have got even worse GD than us). And 2 with 2 games in hand, but 7 points behind us.
Not a good start for those predicting Town to fall into a relegation fight when others catch up their games in hand.

If we are involved in a relegation scrap it will have less to do with the form of teams below us and more to do with our sheer inability to regularly score goals.

Was it not this time of last season when we were looking upwards at the table and not over our shoulder?

Was it not this time of last season when we were looking upwards at the table and not over our shoulder? This time last year we’d just been to Burton and won 4-0, and were about to dispatch Cambridge 5–1 at home. Over half of the goals we’ve scored in the league this season in just two games.

Was it not this time of last season when we were looking upwards at the table and not over our shoulder? Not quite. This weekend last year was the start of our 6 win run after 3 losses That did make some think we were going for it. The end of season run soon scuppered that. Maybe SC didn’t get the investment he wanted in January.

Killian Phillips played a big part in last season’s January transformation. Physicality and quality in midfield. Would love a signing like that right now.
