Certainly doing himself no favours, if he wants to find employment again.

The press are feeding this idiot all the oxygen he needs and more. If the papers just ignored the little tw@ he would just fade into oblivion, but then he'd likely just reappear somewhere like GB News beebies and whine about being de-platformed or cancelled like Laurence Foxwit.

Worrying thing as well is that he has 2.8 million followers on X...
You've got a lot of people just lapping this up, sadly.

The problem we have is that right wing press agree with him.

The bloke has clearly lost his head and is attacking anything and everything who dares challenge him However, he’s not wrong on Eni Aluko’s ability to be a good pundit 😂 and calling her out for being s**t at her job is no different to saying Clinton Morrison and Tim Sherwood are awful on Soccer Saturday too Aluko shouldn’t be near a pundit job ever again

Questioning her ability as a commentator is perfectly acceptable, nobody is immune from criticism or praise.
Comparing her to a serial killer is ridiculous.

Some of the above posts represent part of the problem and demonstrate a lack of nuance. A football largely removed from politics is allocated the tag "right-wing" because he's dared to say something controversial. It wasn't too long ago he was being lauded by The Guardian for his appearance on Question Time, attacking on the government and tweeting in support of Palestine. I certainly don't agree with his comments - in fact to me it looks like he's going through some sort of "crisis" - but the castigating of everyone and anyone as a political opponent, even when politics is completely absent from the situation, is exactly why you end up with people like Barton making these hot takes for attention. The much more affable Kevin Keegan made similar but far more tactful and respectful criticisms of female punditry recently. Let's see what The Guardian had to say about him; www.theguardian.com/football/2023/oct/05/kevin-keegan-asked-to-keep-his-opinions-to-himself-on-female-football-punditsor The Mirror www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/kevin-keegan-women-football-pundits-31112946It's appeared to be for a long time that any criticism - objective or completely ill-judged - of diversity and representation within sport is doubled down on and those speaking out are simply tossed away as being 'out of touch boomer types' - even if you're one of the most decorated players to have played the game like Keegan. Like a lot of things in society, the situation would have probably been avoided if people were allowed to have honest conversations without being demonised as 'right wing GB News types' simply for having "the wrong opinion".

I never listen to any of the pundits. I just watch the game/footage/ highlights and switch over during the chat. Maybe young Barton should give it a go.

I've often liked his style of being outspoken and saying what he thinks but he is certainly having a bad few months of getting his point across in a respectable way , I don't think he will work in football again
It's also probably not a good idea to bring Fred and rose into a conversation when you have a brother like he does

Sounds as if he knows his days in the game are done and dusted anyhow from listening to this. I had no idea he had so many followers on Twitter but when looking to those numbers, perhaps understandable that he's back to podcasting. For anyone interested anyhow...

The male version of Katie Hopkins. They both make a fortune on the back of making vile comments about subjects they know nothing about.

Barton isn’t stupid, he knows he is unlikely to get another managerial job and has probably heard about how much money is being made from podcasts. I heard that the Rory Stewart/Alastair Campbell pod is clearing £100k a week.
The centerist dad style of football podcast is well catered for by the likes of Peter Crouch and Micah Richards but there’s a gap in the market for the ranty, bitter, bile filled offering and never a shortage of takers for the extreme view.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he makes a comfortable living and generates many more headlines from it.

Unfortunately I doubt he'll do any jail time, but a big fat fine might convince him to keep his bigoted opinions to himself in future.
