Yep,posh should of scored 5/6...but how come???....we set up as an ultra defensive team......no way should they be having 5/6 decent chances...should they??🤔🤔 It's not working is it,and never has done.....may as well go out with all guns blazing,in my eyes, and have a bloody good go at it🤷🤷🤷 yes and only 2 more defensive injuries picked up yesterday too, Pierre and apparently Bennet has had the recent gash on his shin/ankle opened up again, that sounds worrying after so long and I wonder if its even healed properly since doing it in the Vale game

as far as im concerned, we were playing 2nd in the league, everything pointed to them winning, as it happened , in the last minute of the game, we smashed the bar in what could have been a 2-2 result, anyone who would rather paint a negative picture, go ahead, unlucky town, good effort, better luck next time yes hitting the bar was unlucky but equally Peterborough missed a number of sitters themselves I think a realistic (not negative) take would have been 5-2 had that been the other way around, we'd not be sympathetic but moaning at the finishing instead ;-)

Having slept on it, yesterday hasn’t got any better. If anything, it’s got even worse. Talk about spreading some Christmas cheer, we were absolutely s**te, the type of performance that’s left me thinking can I be arsed to pay the best part of 400 notes to watch it again next season I can’t be the only one feeling that. I said on another thread last week, we will sleep walk into a relegation battle, we’re so lucky to have this many points, worst football I’ve seen in my life, even worse than Ricketts-ball Add me to that list, and I've been supporting them since the early 1960s.

You can add me as well. Utterly depressing fare, but we have become conditioned to it. Who would be a forward at our club!

Think a lot of the posters said early on in the season, that we needed a creative midfield player.....and they were spot on with there comments.i said our top scorer from midfield will end up with 3/4 goals.....and I'll stick with that......unless we find some kind of ...Irvine,Daly,or Hornsby👍🤦🤦

No goal threat up top, no goal threat from the wings, no goal threat in midfield, no goal threat at set pieces…

I'm another who is seriously thinking of not renewing my season ticket of 20 years and support of over 70 years. I feel I was duped into renewing both ST and car parking this season. Both were available to renew much earlier than previous years. The club must have known what was going on behind the scenes at that time hence the earlier dates.

I said on another thread last week, we will sleep walk into a relegation battle, we’re so lucky to have this many points, worst football I’ve seen in my life, even worse than Ricketts-ball I was speaking to someone the other day that I've always considered a day at the football my go to 'happy place'. We know it's not going to be the best standard and we aren't guaranteed success but having a few drinks with mates and then going to the game, it was enjoyable and a good way to unwind. Last weekend I was going to a gig on a Friday night and then football Saturday, perfect weekend, the gig was a fantastic night.........and then the football came. That's when I realised that the football is no longer the 'happy place'. Whilst it was good to catch up with mates, there were quite a few missing and those that were there where were generally saying the same, that it's boring to watch. So you are surrounded by people complaining about the football and that's before we even got there! Once you get home on Saturday evening you start to to think is that really my 'happy place'. I've certainly seen a lot worse town sides than this and have seen us in more desperate times, we are mid-table in L1 so I'm not going to suggest things are terrible and/or Taylor needs to go. But it's just soul-destroying spending 90 minutes watching the opposition pass the ball round and then when we do get it there's little movement/options so we just aimlessly hoof it forwards. And then it's back to watching the opposition pass it around. Before anyone says it, this is not a new thing, I know that, but that is the problem. We've been stuck with this same style of play for a number of years after a while you really do question why you spend so much on something that you don't enjoy. I've said that I came close to not renewing last season and as things stand I won't be next season. I'll still go to games but it will be through choice, rather than feeling like an obligation.

Cotterill was in situ and things were looking bright. Of course there was a downturn in results but that was a risk that you take. I think most would have renewed on that basis. The club though must have known that his days were numbered and those of BC. They also must have known that the new set up was likely. If SC were to go for whatever reason most would have been happy with a like for like replacement and I understand several were approached.

Last season we had a pattern of play to get us up the pitch which we used time and time again. One of the centre backs plays the ball into one of the midfielders, then the midfielder lays it off to one of the wide centre backs who whips a ball up the line into the channel. Udoh/Bowman/Saydee always knew it was coming, and would invariably be a yard ahead of the defender by the time the ball came, despite none of them being blisteringly pacey. Worst case scenario, the covering defender would put it out of play for a town throw in the attacking third of the pitch.
We don’t have anything like that this season, we just seem to be completely clueless when it comes to getting up the pitch. What is our plan when we get possession this season? How will we get up the pitch?
Taylor’s inexperience when compared to Steve maybe.

I am not particularly unhappy with the league position (yet) as I adjusted my expectations after the regime change. I think the football is turgid and very boring even compared to recent seasons and the goal tally inadequate to put it mildly I still hope and think we will stay in the division but I will repeat we need a decent transfer window

Back-to-back home games yesterday for me, first time in a while.
Totting it up in total it must have set me back some ÂŁ140 by the time I had finished. Yesterday I had the pleasure of my son in law at the game, my wife and daughter spent the day shopping and chatting in Town, lucky them!
My son in law had never been to the ground before and was looking forward to the game. He is a big footie fan and yes, his first love is the premier league but when he lived in Sale he would also regularly go and watch Altrincham play.
To be honest, we spent most of the game chatting to each other as what was happening on the pitch was, from a Town perspective, as dull as ditch water.
After about 30 minutes my son in law turned to me and said, “Do you normally set up so defensively?” I said yes. Must be hard to watch, he said, yes, I again replied.
We got excited when we scored but that feeling of elation didn’t last long, sadly. It all could have ended differently; a last-minute equalizer would have at least sent us home happy, but it was not to be.
We were back home later in the evening, and we talked about the game a bit more. Posh are a decent footballing side we agreed, my son in law was being diplomatic in his summing up of the game when he said, if that’s your style of play then you must really love your club to watch that week in week out, I know I couldn’t.
Last weekend I sat next to a lifelong Town fan. He was 2 years older than me and so we spent a lot of the time reminiscing about Town teams of the past. The game again passed us by. I saw him again on Saturday and his first comment to me was, “we must be mad!” We briefly caught up after the final whistle and he just shook his head and said let’s just hope for something different in the New Year.
I’ve been a Town fan for a long time now. I know that we are not world beaters but, had it not been for the social element of the last two Saturdays, I would really struggle to justify the cost of travelling down, parking up, walking to the ground to then endure 90 minutes of turgid backs to the wall displays from my, from our team.
I’m continually trying to convince myself that I shouldn’t expect more at this time, that the upheaval in summer, the injury list, budget cutbacks have all been major factors and that I should give it more time, but my goodness it’s a tough watch at the moment for sure as we just look so clueless going forward.

I am sure MT said when he came in that the aim was to get more possession and get us further up the pitch. I hope that is still the eventual aim but events have certainly conspired against him. Firstly a very poor transfer window where only a few of the incoming players are on a par with the players they replaced and quite a few have contributed very little due to persistent injuries. Presumably MM is mainly responsible for that poor recruitment. Secondly the previously mentioned injuries have left MT with little choice over team selection and very few options from the bench. The current league position is certainly acceptable for a team with currently the 15th highest average attendance in this league but, as others have said, the lack of goals and dearth of attacking play generally is a great concern in the long run. I was not too concerned about losing to Pompey and Posh - they both looked very strong sides and I doubt if any of our players would get into either of their teams. The real concern is that we are consistently getting outplayed in midfield and cannot get up the pitch against teams around us or below us and are only getting 'smash and grab' wins. These tactics cannot deliver anything but very few goals and relegation in the long run and the January window will be crucial in trying to change this. I am sure MT knows this and I would like to see a young manager like him develop his team and improve with experience during his time with us. The upheaval in the summer has made things more difficult for him but our current points tally does offer some hope that we can stay up and evolve our style of play. I suspect it will continue to be a tough watch for a time but the crowd is still sticking by the lads because we can see they are doing their best in trying circumstances.

Over the last 12-18 months I've had several people ask me how I can watch us, some are casual fans, some haven't been for years and then some were away fans. I didn't have had much of an answer, other than it get's me out of shopping on the Saturday! A quite funny moment was on new years day against Fleetwood, my dad had passed away last year and his name was on the scoreboard as part of the Shrewsbury Town FC Remembers so several of my family came along. Anyway, we watched us lose 3-0 in a terrible performance and my mum & sister turned to me at the end and said "I can see why you go to the pub before matches now".
