And here's another one! www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/dec/18/tory-mp-miriam-cates-investigated-standards-watchdogThe Conservative MP Miriam Cates, a high-profile figure on the party’s right wing, is being investigated by the parliamentary standards watchdog. Cates, the MP for Penistone and Stocksbridge in South Yorkshire since 2019, is being investigated for “actions causing significant damage to the reputation of the house as a whole, or of its members generally”, a brief notice on the website of the commissioner for standards said. The inquiry falls under paragraph 17 of the updated 2019 code of conduct for MPs, which says: “Members shall never undertake any action which would cause significant damage to the reputation and integrity of the House of Commons as a whole, or of its members generally.” The announcement does not give any further details. Investigations by the commissioner, Daniel Greenberg, are kept confidential until the inquiry is concluded. Greenberg is investigating eight MPs, with the inquiries dating back to June. Seven are Conservatives, including Eleanor Laing, the deputy speaker, and Bernard Jenkin. The eighth is the former Tory Andrew Bridgen, who now sits for Reclaim.

Maybe we should employee a board to investigate every single MP?
Anything dodgy at all, bang, you're gone.
Clear the ****ing lot out from all sides and start again with the genuine ones that remain and some fresh young blood.

As far as i can tell, these 'actions' apply to most members of the house.

Clear the ****ing lot out from all sides and start again with the genuine ones that remain and some fresh young blood. There are some very good MPs that work hard for their constituencies and stick to the spirit as well as the letter of the law. There are others such as Lucy Allan in Telford who turns up for photo ops occasionally and is nowhere to be seen the rest of the time and point blank refuses to engage with many in the constituency. If anything she is even more invisible now that she has announced that she is stepping down at the next election (knowing full well that she's out of a job either way).
