You happen to be a guest on our board but clearly that's lost on you by some of the tedious comments you've already made and will no doubt continue to do so as the weeks go by. In fairness there's been plenty of predictable tedious replies 😉 True

At least the ground will be full for this game. As if we had drawn another league 2 club or non league side then only 4k would bother going. Only seems to be now that unless you get a local derby, man utd, Liverpool something like that then the crowds don't turn out. The winner of the 3rd round tie gets something like 100k. That's pocket change to Wrexham but important money for Shrewsbury and maybe that would help us bring in a goal scoring striker.

Not the draw either team would've wished for but lets be honest it could've been much worse like Chesterfield away. We owe you one after our last game when we dropped out of the league. This is great as its a free hit for us. We usually turn up in FA Cup games so I'm expecting us to do the same for this one. Personally I think you'll be on the receiving end of a Paul Mullin & Elliot Lee masterclass. There's some wishful thinking on this thread with regards to our support being 'plastic' which is highly amusing. Define that in any way you want but the reality is more fans = more money and its just jealously driving those ill-thought out brain farts. I couldn't give a flying one if the new fans are from LA or LL13, who gives a sh!t? Want your club to grow and start heading up instead of down? You'll need more fans for that, this shouldn't come as any sort of surprise but it seems lost on some on here. If nothing else this game will prove a useful scouting mission for Sir Parky and his team. Any players we want, we then have the rest of January to get which won't be any issue for us now. You sound like a bit of a plastic yourself to be honest. More bothered about success than the identity of your club. You’d prefer a tie against a Premier League B team in a half empty stadium to a historic local rivalry? And you don’t care who follows your team, as long as it means more money? No doubt you’ll carry on rising up the leagues, but there’s no doubt that you’ve sold your soul on the way. It must feel pretty hollow for the genuine three and a half thousand of you. Right, where do you start with garbage like this. Yeah, when we smashed the NL last season with a record points total and went unbeaten at home all season, I stood there after the final whistle went against Boreham Wood and thought "This feels hollow" Sold our soul Why because we've got great new owners? Stop talking nonsense. They've preserved everything in our history, celebrated and enhanced it, bought the ground back into club ownership etc etc, the total opposite of selling your soul. Embarrassing the stuff you've trotted out here, I'm cringing for you. Been going to Wrexham games for 30 odd years by the way. That's that little bubble burst. Who said anything about a Premier League B team? Your words not mine. I'd just rather get a proper club away like we did last season at Coventry and Sheff Utd. Going to a smaller local rival isn't the same is it. I don't care who follows Wrexham and why would I? What are we supposed to do, vet new fans and refuse them entry? I couldn't care less if a fan has been a fan for 2 minutes or 20 years. Its irrelevant guff. You're really clutching at straws now. More fans equals more money equals more chance of success, maths not your strong point then. Call me old fashioned or plastic but I much prefer to watch a good team who has a chance of winning something than plod along in mid or lower table, achieving nothing and going nowhere. Been there done that for 13 years in non league and its not a great deal of fun, getting beat by Bromley and Wealdstone etc. I don't care who owns my club as long as they are genuine and do whats best for the club. We've genuinely got one of if not the best owners in world football. All this nonsense from other fans like on here is just wishful thinking and jealously. Enjoy the long wait lads. If they'd rocked up in Shrewsbury you'd all lap it up and why not. All these fake so called morals etc would fly straight out the window. Anyone who denies this is either thicker than mince or just a liar.

Wxm801 thankyou for your post. It was both enlightening and heartfelt. I am sure that you will now feel much better now its off your chest. May I add that it's your team you are talking about. I wouldn't really give a monkies how well or bad you as a team do but I can't help but hear the amazing rise from obscurity that's happening for you. Well done. Congratulations. Bravo. Hurrah. But please give it a rest its tiresome

Well, well, well, who'd have thought it? After 15 years we finally get the chance to put one over our neighbours from over the border. Goodness knows how many years they'd have remained in the wilderness, but for the intervention of their fairy godmothers!
As a North Shropshire lad, and a Town fan for nearly sixty years, some of my sweetest memories have involved this lot. Here's a few to be going on with:
(a) 1966/67 Crushing victories in both the FA Cup and League Cup (5-1 and 6-1). Happy days! (b) 1976/77 Brian Hornsby's brilliant goal seals a 3-2 victory at the Meadow. (c) 1979/80 Steve Biggins scores a hat-trick past the hapless (or should that be hopeless) Dai Davies, in a 3-1 victory. (d) 1979/80 Town complete the double with a Paul Maguire header, on St.David's day!
One defeat has particular significance. I've been happily married for 41 years, but our first date incorporated a 2-1 home defeat in 1980/81. I guess that any budding relationship, which could survive such trauma, was destined to last!

Genuinely looking forward to playing you again, it's been far too long since we've been rotting in National league for 15 seasons. For us, this was always decent rivalry, sadly always had an ugly side to it. I would say it's probably not our main derby as that will always be Chester but it's definitely above Tranmere Crewe etc. I have seen a lot of comments on here which just ain't true. Obviously, a lot has changed in the last few years but the stadium is not full of people called Hank and Brad wearing fanny packs yelling "I believe we will win" 🤣 They only get around 40 tickets. The plastic comments do make laugh I remember you struggling to get 3000 now you get 6k so they must be plastic too yeah? Obviously, the money is huge and the reason we got promoted, but the club always had potential due to the catchment area. But the money we've spent ain't been wasted, it's been spent very wisely. In the last 15 years, we've looked at you with envy, got out of the NL very quickly and have been a decent club for a number of years. It's just nice to be playing at a level that actually resembles football. Although our squad is decent, like yourselves, injuries seem to be piling up, although Ryan Barnett will be back for this fixture. So glad you released him because it goes some way for giving us Richard Hope, who still to this day (and we have played in the National League for 15 seasons) remains the worst player I've seen in a Wrexham shirt. Nothing will compare to the days of the Gay Meadow, as that place had so much character and a fantastic atmosphere, but hopefully the rivalry will build again, and the hooligans will stay away. One good thing about selling out every away game is they can no longer get tickets, but with it being down the road, they are bound to travel. Anyway, hopefully it's a decent game and no trouble!! Plenty of good points there for sure. But Richard Hope was a very decent player for us. Probably didnt do it for you as the players around him didnt help him show his true worth.

I see that Jeff Stelling is suggesting that the FA seed the third-round draw so that all the small clubs get a plum tie. I’d be opposed to this, it would also mean that it would be unlikely for a small club to get to 5th round or beyond. I think the prospect of an all non-league tie in 3rd round (Barnet v Eastleigh) while Arsenal play Liverpool, is what the Cup should be all about. The draw becomes less exciting if it’s seeded or fixed as I’d prefer to call it.

Wxm801, you’re right it’s not much fun being beaten by the likes of Bromley or Wealdstone, but that’s what true fans put up with, not put away their scarf in the drawer until the good times return. ”Fans” who only turn up when the team does well of course contribute financially to the club, and we’d all welcome them, I think it’s the so-called celebrity attraction which sticks in the throat.

The Cup has been watered down in so many ways that it is just a shadow of its former days when it was the most exciting competition in the world. Please dont water it down any further.

Interesting to compare the most recent published accounts of the two clubs (year to June 2022). You certainly couldn't say Wrexham were financially stronger from those. Their owners might have deep pockets but that doesn't mean they want to put much of it into their toy club. All TV shows come to an end. The current position might be different of course - we're expecting Salop's June 2023 accounts to be grim - but I don't expect the positions will have reversed dramatically in the space of a year.

Some of you are stressing already about trouble. Let me put your minds at ease.
If we get the full 1700 allocation its not going to meet demand. We have around 7000 season ticket holders and many wanting a ticket will be left disappointed.
I think we'll have a few fans trying for hospitality, and a few trying for the home stands.
I doubt the Police will allow a Saturday kick off. Its more likely to be on a Sunday with S4C covering the game.
You play other big clubs like Bolton and Pompey without any problems? Wrexham will be no different.

It’s been a real test of my anti-Town loyalties since the draw was made, and I’m afraid when tasked with the challenge of being an anti-Town fan in support of Wrexham I’ve failed. Luckily there’s a few weeks for me to up my anti-Town game before the actual match.
