Unbelievably.....the 'pen' for Liverpool was not a dive!!!๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ณ Liverpool should have been three up,at least,by half time. If they lose out on the title it's down to their own arrogance Is arrogance the reason Town score so few?

www.theguardian.com/football/2024/apr/08/everton-hit-with-two-point-deduction-over-second-breach-of-financial-rulesEverton hit with two-point deduction over second breach of financial rules. Everton will be at increased risk of administration should they suffer relegation. The latest set of accounts for the year ending 30 June 2023 revealed a loss of ยฃ89.1m and contained another warning over the clubโs ability to continue as a going concern. The accounts also disclosed that Everton, subject of a proposed takeover by the controversial US investment firm 777 Partners, have not secured the complete financing needed to finish the construction of their new stadium at Bramley Moore dock.

Nobody loses the title, another team wins it. I dislike all three of the teams chasing it but, as of today, I probably dislike Arsenal the least. Whoever wins it, the part I'll really enjoy is seeing the other two miss out. Hope there are some good crying fans pictures.

The PSR punishment regime needs to be much better organised because it's becoming a real mess now. I have no issue with points deductions being given for breaching the rules, as long as those rules are fair, transparent and properly understood by all parties. I think it's wrong that any club should suffer two deductions in the same season though. Logic should dictate that, since the rules are applied to a rolling three year average of aggregated losses, the question of whether or not the rule has been breached should only arise once a year. Everton are being made to suffer the EPL catching up on the application of its own rules by assessing two periods in one year. That isn't fair. It's also unfair to everybody that deductions are applied at random intervals during the season. It distorts and discredits the competition. There has to be a system derived whereby any points deductions are applied when the new season's fixtures are published. That way everyone knows where they stand before a ball has been kicked. Knocking points off with only a handful of games left is ridiculous and becomes even more ridiculous when the punished club appeals, as Everton intend to do. Are we going to see two teams waiting on the outcome of an appeal to see which one survives and which is relegated? This is "the best league in the world"? Doesn't look like it.

After your post , not having seen it , I went looking , yep apparently the general consensus , including Collina the best ref ever , Liverpool player dives , penalty , VAR no review , What's new ๐๐๐ Yeah, I assumed it was a penalty until I saw it from a different angle. That showed very clearly that Wan Bissaka pulls out of the attempted tackle and any contact, but Elliott moves his foot into Wan Bissaka's outstretched leg (and of course does the mandatory mid air twist to emphasise the violent nature of the foul ). Never a penalty, Elliott should have been booked for simulation. Yet another case to be added to the endless list of VAR failures.

Man Utd. That is all ๐๐๐ liverpool 87 shots against united this season zero wins ;-) Thatโs a weird stat which I thought youโd made up until I saw it confirmed in the paper. Itโs backed up by United having allowed an average of 22 shots per game against them during their last 14 games (Prem average 9) but losing only 4. Predicted goals against 2.5 per game actual 1.7. Also, the ref intercepted as many passes during the Liverpool game, 2, as the entire United midfield.

The writer called ten Haag the guru of anti press.

Also, the ref intercepted as many passes during the Liverpool game, 2, as the entire United midfield. This xG lark tells an obvious story, but there's another side to it sometimes. An easy chance has a high xG, a difficult one is low. Liverpool missed several "easy" chances, hence their xG of about 3.5. United scored two outstanding individual goals, both of which were extremely difficult and therefore United's xG was about 0.5. So the xG lovers would say, understandably, that Liverpool should have won. Give me exceptional goals being scored every day of the week. Interestingly, as far as shots on target are concerned, the outcome was much closer - 7-5 to Liverpool. But a shot on target might not be much of a real goal threat of course. The only outcome that matters was the 2-2 result. If I was a neutral, I'd say that was a fair result when one team missed good chances while the other scored outstanding goals. Sometimes the stats freaks overlook entertainment and excitement - there are no stats for that.

From reading what has been reported those clubs in and around the relegation zone might not know who is to go down on the last day as the points deductions may not be finalized by then (as clubs may have the chance to appeal and see those deductions reduced, which could mean finishing inside or outside the relegation zone). Which I gather would then mean those who might be impacted and fall back into the relegation zone may then appeal against the any changes to the points deducted from others. Haven't we been here before? All sounds a bit of a mess.

If any club has breached the rules (whatever they are) then punishment should not be meted out in a piecemeal fashion. It is making league tables at the business end of the season, a nonsense. As the FA themselves might put it.....'It's bringing the game into disrepute.'
