I've got a good feeling about this one, fingers crossed, I think he's going to do well in the game.

Well done young man. With good management and good pro’s around him he should do very well.

Three-year deal? I’d have thought a year with an option for a further year would make more sense.
But good news regardless.

Three-year deal? I’d have thought a year with an option for a further year would make more sense. But good news regardless. Speculate to accumulate. He's probably on a pretty low wage, and the security from our side of three years means if he's any good we'll find it easier to keep him for longer and/or get a decent fee for him. The worst case scenario is we're paying him a low wage for three years if he doesn't live up to his potential. Even then we might be able to offset some of that with loans and a transfer. The potential upsides of a three year deal massively outweigh the potential downsides, it's definitely worth a punt. Also exactly the sort of move we should be making under the new set-up. I've no idea if he'll make it or not, and the stalling of Bloxham's career is a cautionary tale that it's not a given he will. Even if it doesn't, I'm massively pro getting him signed up, great work by the club.

Good on him, and the academy. Hadn't really heard of him until end of last season. Is he a local lad? Doesn't say much on wiki etc other than born in Norway, but can't imagine towns academy scouting gets to Scandinavia! Was he on the books elsewhere?

Certainly wouldn't have happened if SC was still in charge

Certainly wouldn't have happened if SC was still in charge The same manager who gave Bloxham a long contract (subsequently extended), and also gave hernes his professional debut you mean?

Yep that's the one. The same one practically ignored Bloxham last season when he should have gone out on loan to get experience, the same one who refused to give most of our youngsters a chance because he only wanted experience in his squad and only gave Hermes a chance because he ran out of players. Yep that's him,he's the one

I see Travis Hernes came on as a sub today for Newcastle in Australia against Tottenham.
I wonder if we’ll receive a payment for this? I know a number of add ons structured the deal - although it’s technically not a competitive fixture I don’t think

What's the point of playing youngsters if they're not good enough? And when Hernes was given his debut it was at the start of the season, the injury crisis happened later. Your remarks are somewhat disingenuous.

Your remarks are somewhat disingenuous. I always thought the common complaint that Cotterill had no interest in the youth to be somewhat disingenuous. Especially when you consider that all other managers since Hurst’s first spell hand barely given a single minute to a youth player. At least due to Cott’s unusual squad building technique they made it onto the bench and got FLT games.

I know a number of add ons structured the deal - although it’s technically not a competitive fixture I don’t think I actually went to this game, I have never been to a game where the final score was so clearly pre arranged so there could be penalties, both teams ended up with virtually the reserve teams on the pitch with what appeared to be unlimited substitutions, absolute disgrace, would rather pay to watch Shrewsbury on ifollow than what was dished up by these two " premier " teams

Becoming more and more like a circus at the top level.
