That's a huge blow, to him especially.
I did wonder as there was no immediate update.

Grim news, but when someone sends you a link to the tweet on WhatsApp and the caption reads 'Shrewsbury Town are heartbroken to confirm...' you sort of feel the worse.
Lets put it into perspective, its rotten luck and you've got to feel for him but 'heartbreaking' is an exaggeration.

James Wesolowski was another who sufffered knee injuries, with a brief comeback after the first, which kept him out for all but consecutive seasons

That is a massive blow for us and him. He is at a vital stage in his career and to go a year and a half with no football isn't good.

To do all the hard work and be right on the cusp of returning to get another significant setback must be gutting for him. Hope he stays mentally strong.

Brutal news for club and player. Missed him enormously last season and will do again for these number of months.

Spoke to George a few times during his rehab so know how much he was looking forward to getting back out on the pitch. Personally I’m devastated for the lad, he’s such a nice guy and given how hard he’s worked to get back it must be gutting. Also huge blow for the management he’s one of the experienced players who we were banking on playing 30+ games, I’m guessing, so we may well have to dip back into the market for an experienced defender.

Is it related to the ACL or something completely different? Fear is he’ll have a permanent weakness there. Get well soon George.

Is it related to the ACL or something completely different? Fear is he’ll have a permanent weakness there. Get well soon George. Knee injury so not linked. Surely is a recurrence of his ACL? Seems too much of a coincidence to be a different knee injury, and for the club to be “heartbroken” you’d imagine it’s serious. Are there even any knee injuries that can keep you out for months other than ligament tears? Don’t think I’ve heard of any.

Very tough news for everyone to take and I feel greatly for George and hope this injury is something he can recover from a lot more quickly that the ACL he must be devastated and it is a big loss to the town too! Wishing George a rapid and solid recovery!

I feel so sorry for the player, as others have said to do all the hard work and get another injury .

This is awful news for George and Town. I really hope this is something he can get over and come back to full fitness in a few months and that it isn't something that can't easily be resolved. Here's to a quicker than expected recovery.

This is a cruel blow for George. He's had to work so hard to get back to full fitness. He seems a strong character, so hopefully he'll take a deep breath and come back again.
Best of luck George, lots of us thinking of you and willing you on. xx

So cruel after so long out last season to then break down before this season has even started.
Number of months feels very ominous too. Hope it isn't as bad as last year. But wonder if it means there is a chance he won't be registered until January?

Poor ****ing lad.
Sport can be a brutal thing sometimes, for this to happen just after the best season of his career is a real kicker. Hope he's able to be back in the team at some point this season, longer-term I really hope he's able to make a career in the game and this isn't the beginning of the end.

Really disappointing news for club and player. Based on last seasons performaces Nurse looked ver yat home as a League one player and injury free he could have been a very influencial player for us this coming season, and also really push on his own career. Must be soul distroying to work so hard then get injured again. Hope its not as bad as first appears and he's back fit later in the season

Lets put it into perspective, its rotten luck and you've got to feel for him but 'heartbreaking' is an exaggeration. I get your point and normally try to avoid hyperbole myself. However, in the context of how much of last season was lost and all the hours of rehab, I can understand the choice of words. A lot of people (and George himself of course) have invested time, patience and energy into helping him get back to fitness, only to see that work undone before the first proper game of the season. On top of this there is a possibility that his professional career is over. I sincerely hope not, but you can see why the club has put out such an emotionally charged statement.

Devastated for the lad. Was half a season of good form away from easily stepping up to champ and massive amounts more money for his young family and probably making the club a tidy sum as well.
Hope he can recover and play football at this level again.
