To be expected and as we are all aware it will be much more than the Town can offer in salary good luck to the lad and big thanks for his efforts for us in past seasons!

Blackpool will be expected to be challenging for an immediate return to the championship so not really a surprising move. Maybe some bottom half championship teams may have been interested.

That’s depressing. Bloody Blackpool I Could've sworn he was going on to bigger and better things as a Championship standard player. Must've been mistaken, never mind.

Disappointing but not too surprising. Maybe as he was from Warrington and played for Everton he is based up in the north west so wouldn't have to relocate by signing for Blackpool than say Plymounth and Portsmouth who I think were also said to be intenterested

Despite being in the same league you be hard pushed to argue that it isn’t a step up for him both in terms of chance of success and money. Also for geographical reasons although I highly doubt he’ll be relocating to the quaint and tranquil town.
Will give him a polite round of applause at the start of the game and then proceed to abuse him for the 90 minutes.

I'm more disappointed in the way the season ended for Matt, something was amiss.
Anyway onwards and upwards

Complete reversal from 1978 when David Tong left Blackpool for Shrewsbury and went on to be promoted as Champions at the end of the season to the 2nd tier for the first time, laying Blackpool scratching around in the 3rd tier, finishing 12th. They did however beat us 5-1 in the run-in creating a lot of squeaky bum reactions in Salop.

A bit like the Joe Jacobson situation. MP decided to make jhimself unavailable. If that is true, I hope he handed back his wages for the weeks he refused to play.

I doubt that, he played 37 times in the league, would the trigger be 38 games ? I doubt it I think its more along the lines, he fell out with the manager , we'd just lost 5 games in a row, I would guess our manager was looking for a scapegoat and decided this week it would be pennington and im sure as well as any town fan they wouldn't accept that pennington was to blame, now I remember dunny asking him about pennington, and cotterill saying, apparently he's declare himself not 100% fit, next game dunny said do you have anything to say why pennington isn't playing , cotterill snapped "no", Pennington had long decided he was going, unprofessional maybe, but had enough of the manager maybe

With the long term life changing effects of head injuries he may have decided, quite rightly, that some things are more important than football.

I think it was probably a case of a player looking after his best interests with nothing more to play for in the season knowing there was interest elsewhere. Which is why SC got a bit narky regarding him, but probably also deep down understood.

Good signing for Blackpool, definitely a top end League One defender. Alfie Pond would be a good replacement though judging by the reviews I’ve read.

Understandable given his links to the North West.
Best of luck Matt.
