Another Conservative MP, Lucy Allan, a Johnson supporter, announced on Friday that she was standing down in her Shropshire seat, and claimed that “today’s Conservative party is just not interested in seats like Telford any more.”
She told the Guardian the Conservatives could have held on there if she was not standing down, but warned that it would be “nigh on impossible for a new Conservative candidate to win in Telford in 2024” with a candidate who will be “starting from scratch” and relying “entirely on a small core of Conservative votes”.
“Telford is an aspirational town. People work hard and want to get on; it is small-c conservative. It wants to see hard work rewarded and better prospects for the next generation. It wants its public services to work and its trains to run on time. Get that right and people could be won over once again,” she said.

Good riddance to the Boris supporter's…. She can flip off back to Wandsworth. Hang on she’s never left……..
The good people of Telford will see sense.

Simple I reckon, she knew she would be out on her ear at the next election.

The last paragraph is the nearest I have seen to an admission of failure. 12 years, is it, of Conservative government and they haven't got any of those nailed.

The last paragraph could describe most places in the country to be honest. Public services that work efficiently are what most people want, and expect.
