Already dubbed “Humza Useless” – by nationalists who decided not to support him – Mr Yousaf has made a brilliant start from the perspective of his opponents, internal and external.
His decision to offer an insultingly minor job to Kate Forbes, his defeated and probably more able opponent, when assembling his new cabinet is a mark of the man. It amuses him to spend British taxpayers’ money on a minister for independence, someone as useful as a minister for chocolate teapots. And although a main failing of the SNP – apart from its administration of the National Health Service in Scotland, which until last week was Mr Yousaf’s responsibility – is a catastrophic transport policy that has nearly cut off some of the Western Isles, he has declined to appoint a transport minister.
Daily Telegraph.

Scotland’s ferry network is sinking, and taking the SNP with it

We could well see a renascence of Labour in Scotland, certainly if recent polls are anything to go by.

The end of the Krankie woman is in sight . Our Nicola was intending to step down altogether in 2026. Because of recent disclosures about the finances of the SNP and the involvement of her husband whether proved or otherwise , her continued presence is seen as an embarrassment for her successor. Labour and Tory members of the Scottish government would take great delight in referencing her at every opportunity and pile more scorn on the SNP .In fact it is suggested nothing much in the line of business would be completed . A complete and utter balls up in Scotland then which would definitely lead people to come to the conclusion, if they haven’t already, that an independent Scotland led by the SNP would not be a good idea.
Of Nicola what have you done . I admit I quite like Sturgeon , think she did very well during the pandemic compared to some but we will see how this all turns out .

the green party get about 10% of the vote and will prop up the SNP and both wont indepence.the SNP vote is strong and wont suddenly disapear they control most of the councils, they are the majority in the scottish parliment
from google "It currently has 45 Members of Parliament (MPs), 64 Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) and over 450 local councillors."
30% of its paid members have left if that was reflected in it's voters in it's voters then the SNP may lose its majority.
what does seem to be happening is the numerous issues from the years of poor goverment by the SNP are now causing Humza and the SNP some overdue problems.

This article highlights what a mess the SNP are in and it is important that the individuals resposible are held to account. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11980629/Nicola-Sturgeon-hiding-Ex-minister-attend-Holyrood-remotely-amid-calls-quit-SNP. "Nicola Sturgeon goes into hiding: Ex-first minister to attend Holyrood 'remotely' for a week as she faces calls to quit SNP over finance probe - as new leader Humza Yousaf bids to distract from meltdown by doubling council tax on second homes Emails suggest Sturgeon refused to open up the SNP's finances to more scrutiny Video also revealed in 2021 she claimed party finances had 'never been stronger'"

I think Labour will gain most but I think everyone will hope to take advantage whether the Lib Dems, the Tories, Alba and perhaps even the odd independent. I guess it will depend on why people are turning away from the SNP and whether they see it as no more than a means to send a message or whether there is no way back. But it'll be interesting to see how it turns out.
Do get the feeling though that for the SNP things are going to get a lot worse before they get better.

More aggravation for Humza . Members of his own party are now calling for him to suspend Nicola Sturgeon. His two opponents in the leadership contest are calling for her to be suspended over the financial mess the SNP are in and the fact that she tried to shut down discussion on the state of the party’s finances . Of course he is defending his position and is adamant that those involved including her husband and Treasurer are innocent until proven guilty . On and on it goes . I wonder what Alex Salmond is making of all this .

The Times are reporting on Yousaf's personal rating and also the latest voting intensions in Scotland (both have been discussed here, so thought I would share)... Humza Yousaf approval poll: incompetent and weak, say voters
Its not a great read for Yousaf and the SNP for sure but then it does show that despite their current troubles, they still retain a sound support base. At the moment anyhow. So if they can turn things around, its not that much ground to make up again. How big an 'if' though is still to be determined and despite what is reported, you do rather get the impression that things are set to get worse before they get better and the SNP's finances aren't in the best of shape.

Agree and that's what makes it an interested watch. We have to take into account the independence cause of course but in addition to that, I gather a lot of people flocked to the SNP because they were seen as the antithesis of the Tories and Labour; they were different, no corruption, no taking the electorate for granted, etc. I'd say that's gone for a Burton and then some. They're just as bad as everyone else. Who would have guessed...

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12004473/SNP-mocked-deputy-leader-Keith-Browns-claim-transparent-party.html"SNP mocked over deputy leader Keith Brown's claim they are 'most transparent party' amid police probe into finances - as it emerges former Westminster leader Angus Robertson was 'secretly paid a £33,000 salary top-up'" "Robertson was paid an additional £33,207 while he was the SNP's Westminister leader. According to the newspaper, the wages of Mr Robertson - who is now the Scottish Government's Constitution Secretary - and the then chief whip Mike Weir were topped up after the 2015 general election. But it was claimed neither the rest of the SNP group at Westminster nor senior party figures in Edinburgh were told about the payments."

i dont have the knowledge to know what impact this ban might have and how acurate the alegations are about the impact of this ban, however the SNP made a big number of how brexit would destroy the scottish fishing industry, if these alegations are acurate then it woiuld be ironic that it is actually iroinc if this happens from SNP policy only time will tell when the impact of the ban takes places, as the SNP have a majority and support from the Greens for this with only 3 SNP rebelling they will still have enough to push it through. whilst we have to manage fishing in a way were stocks are protected for the future, i also feel sorry for potentially all the people who will lose threr jobs. www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/losing-his-grip-humza-yousaf-mocked-over-snp-rebellion-against-fishing-ban-plans/ar-AA1aKr2c?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=b80897ffdf654274bf59a87e5a44a049&ei=31"Mr Ross accused the new First Minister of being "out of touch" with coastal communities and members of his own party. And he mocked the SNP leader saying it had taken eight years for his predecessor Nicola Sturgeon to face a rebellion, but less than eight weeks for the same fate to befall Mr Yousaf after three of his own MSPs voted against him at Holyrood yesterday. The Scottish Government has proposed creating highly protected marine areas (HPMAs) in at least 10 percent of Scotland's waters. But the move has prompted concerns from those in rural areas, opposition politicians and some within his own party." "Mr Ross said: "These reckless SNP-Green plans would ban fishing across much of our seas. They would put thousands of jobs at risk. They would devastate coastal, fishing and rural communities. "Humza Yousaf is out-of-touch with coastal communities and he's even out of touch with many members of his own party. "It took eight years for Nicola Sturgeon to face a major SNP rebellion. It's taken Humza Yousaf less than eight weeks."
