Well I can just see traders loving this wonderful idea. How many older people just won’t bother to go where this is in operation?

If someone’s to old to manage a smart phone maybe they’re too old to drive

You are not legally obliged to own a Smart phone. It's high time the rights of those who don't wish to were respected.

Smart phones have been around long enough now that the 'what about elderly people?' argument should really be null and void.

Most 70 year olds I know have a semi-decent grasp of how to use their phones. How many 80 or 90 year olds are regularly whizzing round using car parks? They should really be encouraged to use their free bus passes where possible.

I'm less supportive of the idea of more redundant use once only apps that I was forced to download during Covid to order a pint or meal in a pub I'll probably never visit again. And the potential sketchy data sharing that goes on.

Don't most of these app parking places already have a service where you can call or text to pay if you can't download the app? I'd be surprised if there are any where you genuinely can't pay at all without an app. Seems a bit clickbaity to me.

Sure there are but they’re talking about the future when 3Gs turned off loads will stop working so is it worth the millions it will cost to replace them when technology allows a simple process via 1 parking app. Got to remember cash’s going to 👍
