Depend on how far the queue from the accident has got. Sometimes being there earlier means you get delayed longer.
A couple of years ago I was catching a train home from London (Usual journey time 40 minutes)
Missed the 16.30, If I had caught that train I would have been home 17.10
Caught the 16.40, train failed at first stop 16.45 got home 20.05 (Journey time 3 hours 25 mins)
If I had missed the 16.40 I would have got home at 18.00 by taking a different route due to the train line being closed. (Journey time 1 hour 20 minutes)
I think it shows how a few minutes can make a lot of difference.

Heres my journey:
-Left Tenbury (N.Worcestershire) at 10:30 -Arrived Condover 11:20-picked up mate -Arrived Telford Estate, Shrewsbury 11:35-picked up mate -Arrived Gigg Lane 2:00!
Comin up on the A49 I hardly went above 55mph in less than great road conditions and still arrived in time. Thats because I planned ahead and did'nt go out of my way to pick up my passengers-tho I did get us lost on the way home ;D.
However, the delay was caused by an serious accident in which several people may well have died-when u think of it that way it kinda puts our releativly minor gripes into focus.
