I do think there needs to be a lot more thought before major road projects go ahead, but if we look at there Welsh goverments future criteria, i cant see how they will be building any major roads. it also does not feel like there is any joined up thinking, if they are going ahead with this then there needs to be a major improvment in public transport, more trains and a bus service that conects rural areas to the train stations or have a regional bus service. the bus services in north and mid wales is very poor. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-64640215"The Welsh government said all future roads must pass strict criteria which means they must not increase carbon emissions, they must not increase the number of cars on the road, they must not lead to higher speeds and higher emissions, and they must not negatively impact the environment."

Just seen this reported on BBC News . The banned roads decision includes the new crossing over the Menai Strait. Some local businesses are not very happy about this at all . There has also been criticism from some quarters concerning the loss of jobs which would have been provided by infrastructure works .
Makes me wonder whether or not our own NW Relief Road will go ahead . There are concerns about the route expressed by Environmentalists as well as the increasing costs , far above the original budget .
Ive lost track where we are with this project . Anyone got any idea ?

I have no inside knowledge, but would be very surprised if it did go ahead, it will keep being postponed until the next election, then the Tories can blame the new Labour led government for the cancellation

A Wrexhan bypass also cancelled. Maybe just flatten the whole place instead?

Rather than build new roads, repair the ones we've already got.
Some of the A roads in our neck of the wood are in an appalling state of disrepair.

Rather than build new roads, repair the ones we've already got. Some of the A roads in our neck of the wood are in an appalling state of disrepair. yes you would think they would my main concern is also no extra funding for public transport. www.independent.co.uk/travel/europe/germany-train-unlimited-travel-ticket-b2274578.htmlin sharp contrast " Unlimited travel by rail, tram and bus anywhere in Germany will cost €49 per month from some time this year – equivalent to just £1.40 per day.The 2023 one-month ticket will cover all but the fastest trains, plus U-Bahn and S-Bahn networks in the cities. It also includes trams, most buses and even ferry services on the River Elbe in Hamburg. While the does not cover intercity expresses, any journey across Germany is possible using slower regional express trains. The deal is open to all, regardless of nationality, and there is no need to book in advance."
