After yesterday’s game and all the plaudits for Dunkley and Phillips, can we just take a moment to appreciate Leahy’s contribution in the last two years as captain of this club?
We’ve had a string of captains through our history who seemed composed, focused and more steady eddies than anything, which is fine, but Leahy yesterday absolutely epitomised everything right with this club right now. During the last ten minutes backs to the wall defending, he was trying to get the crowd lifted, sprinting to close down every man he could and completely pushing the team over the line. It’s been a long time since we’ve had a captain so driven, determined and trying to carry the fans with him.

Cotterill deserves immense credit for taking a left back who'd been relegated in successive seasons and turning him into the all-action midfielder he is now.

He’s my favourite Salop player currently. The lad is class on and off the pitch! Just hoping that we’re already in discussions with him about signing a new deal. Leahy could easily become the next Whalley and stay with us for many seasons.

Right up there as one my favourite players in the 15 years that I’ve been going.
Not only is he a complete footballer in many ways, who could competently play any outfield position, he’s got an unbelievable mentality. A winner, a motivator and a leader. No surprise he’s so reliable from the spot.
Hopefully we can keep hold of him for a few years yet.

I wasn’t there yesterday, but I often watch him during the shooting drills in the warm up, the quality of his shots and the way he strikes a ball, unbelievable…

If you put him up front he’d probably get 20 goals a season through sheer willpower alone. A proper inspirational lead-from-the-front captain.

A perfect example of never listening to fans of past clubs. He'd be comfortable in the Championship.

He does tend to get the best out of players who want to work.

We didn’t see a lot of him at left back, but what we did see really wasn’t encouraging. Even when he’s started at left wing back he’s been moved back to midfield, but he does such a great job in there.

How long does he have on his contract? End of the season, but there's a year option. Not sure if it's in the clubs favour or not.

I recall he played there at Cheltenham earlier this season when Shipley became unavailable at the eleventh hour due to the impending birth of his child. It was a truly dismal all round performance but there was enough from Leahy there to say that the position he’s played his whole life is no longer his best position.

If I remember rightly after we played Bristol Rovers the Rovers manager who is something of an authority on tactics and all things football said that Luke needed to return to Rovers as he didnt look as if he was enjoying his football under SC. He also had a go at SC. How much longer can Joey Barton remain in football. He is sure of a warm welcome when he brings his team to town in a few weeks.

When we do our usual soft bulls**t of "Welcome to everyone from Bristol Rovers" can we all just roundly boo for 30 seconds? Would be a brilliant spectacle.

Barton is an embarrassment to himself and his club much of the time.
Would hate it if he ever became Towns manager.

One way the club can end up with a player they don't reallly want, the other way they can end up with a player who wanted to move on, though with that, at least the player can ask for a transfer and we can make a bit of money.

I'm sure we will, but will we offer enough for him to stay. I'm sure he will get some decent offers from clubs with more financial clout than us.
