Difficult to say who MOTM was (and that is good because it means the whole team is functioning well) but perhaps just Phillips for me ahead of Dunkley (who rather blotted his copybook by nearly getting sent off though he left the ref in no doubt about which part of his anatomy the Vale player had made contact with). We did miss Pennington and Flanagan as the defending either side of Dunkley was a bit hit and miss at times but also give credit to Vale for some good attacking moves with Politic and Benning often causing us problems. Overall, a quite thrilling afternoon with the feelgood factor definitely growing due to the team's hard work and tough mental attitude.

Ryan Bowman was superb today. May not get the headlines or goals after that match, but a fantastic performance. His work rate and harassing of the Vale back line was brilliant. Top, top performance.

Brilliant day. End of the 1st half was genuine "fever pitch" for the first time since the Hurst season. Mass hysteria for the goals 👍 atmosphere was fantastic too.

A decent game which ebbed & flowed. I thought Vale looked good up until our equaliser, then we looked dangerous, particularly from set pieces. You could sense how the second half was going to go and whilst they certainly had plenty of pressure, it wasn't like they were battering us and had loads of chances. What actually helped us was the stop in play for their lad who was injured halfway through the second half, it seemed to break up their momentum and we finally had a bit of the ball after that.
With two away games coming up, the next 7 days will give us an indication as to whether we are going to be serious play-off contenders
Oh and Dunkley is a very lucky man

One complaint (there has to be!), tried to get into Smithys at 2.45 for a quick drink, was told they were closing. We walked away, a mate persuaded the bouncers to let him in, we tried to follow but the bouncer said he wasn't letting anymore in. He then said they'd reopen at full time..... we thought we would try our luck at half time and it was open. It's hard work trying to give money to this club at times.

Can we have Killian back please! We are regressing as a team and need some spirited fighters. Glad he is doing well, as I predicted good luck for rest of season

Oh and Dunkley is a very lucky man 2nd week running we amazingly avoided a blatant red card, and 3 game ban in this case ref immediately pulled out a yellow for their guy, and then dithered and dithered and bottled it with ours oh well another 2 or 3 points gained and an 3 extra = games with Dunkley in the side to come I think we are in profit now this season with crazy decisions

I couldn’t see what happened from my seat as far away so I’ll wait until seeing a replay to comment. Don’t like to comment on things I couldn’t see/games I wasn’t at…
If he should’ve had a red, it’s good to finally have one back in our favour. Only 3 more to go until we are level this season

He will definitely be up for Tuesday. It’s good to see him back on form and not being used as a lone striker. The introduction of Phillips and the resurgence of Bowman, together with the off-loading of a possible negative influence (O’Brien) are making our January business look very good indeed.

Not one for ref-bashing...but he was poor

due to injury and suspension SC had to move things around and all credit to the team for how they adapted to it.a hard fought gamr 90 minutes of toe to toe battling that town prevailed and got the valuable 3 points.
loked at the highlights with well taken goals by town, during the match i thought moore was at fault for one goal but when you lok at hte highlights he was a contributing factor on both and a port vale chance that went just past the far post, the first goal he was in the center of defence and there player got in front of him, second goal he came and supported another player who was one on one with a forward there was a huge space in the center for there player to score equally some blame must go to the center backs. in there good chance that came very close more did not pick up the run in all three cases Moore positional awarnes was very poor and as we all know he has zero pace.in my view he is a weak link in the team when he is played in midfield his distribution is eratic and far too often he will pass back to be fair that is not all his fault as town are often very static in midfield and in the forward line. as right wing back he has no pace and is easily beaten.
SC and the back room team deservers a lot of praise in getting the best out of his squad they have gelled ,thre is clearly a god team spirit and what they lack in skills they make up for by working very hard. SC and the backroom team also desrvers praise in brining in players who have strengthend the team and improved there fitness.
i dont know what contract moore has got but personally and im sure others may have a different view of moore in my view we should let him go and bring somone who can actually do the role SC wont moore to do.( i apreciate he is a defender and is playing out of position but it is not working)
in the first part of the season were we looked dire all credit to SC to have turned it around a 6 game wining run looked a long way offf. we play Exeter next there are no easy game but it not be nice to hit the magic 50 and not have hte usual end of season looking over our shoulder nervosly.

Absolute scenes of jubilation near me when that late Stockton goal went in at the Mazuma. 25 points ahead of Forest Green now.

I thought Dunkley had punched the lad as well, and yet you could clearly see what his explanation was, that the Vale player was holding his arm down and he forced them to let go. The fact there was very little protest from Vale team mates, in the circumstances of a ‘punch’, probably says it all in hindsight.
The game itself. A set piece against the run of play completely changed the manner of our performance and for the first time since Cambridge you can very confidently say we deserved to win without any doubt.
Credit to both teams and set of fans. Proper lower league end to end football, a really good game.
Bowman and Phillips absolutely brilliant. Dunkley and Leahy incredible leaders.
7 on the bounce CAN happen, after that it all gets a little tougher but the dream is still on.

Is Bowman impossible to drop now? Not one for ref-bashing...but he was poor I actually thought the ref was ok. Didn’t use cards too early, or we could have red cards later in the game. Not an easy game to ref, but he did ok, and the one time I was worried about a red he gave a yellow.

I must admit I thought Dunkley was going to do the walk of shame. The ref looked as if it was a red one coming out despite Dunkley acting out some perverted fantasy concerning his gonads. Very amusing. But strange , the Vale lads didn’t seem too concerned and didn’t get onto the ref in numbers desperate for a red card to be shown. I’ve been watching football for a very long time and sometimes I see things which don’t seem quite right , for instance like Bradshaw scoring a goal for us 🤪 No, I honestly thought we got away with one Saturday which was great because Dunkley would be a big loss for us . Thank you Ref .

I was told by someone with a good view that he was actually punching the ground in frustration as he couldn’t free himself from the “cuddle” that the Vale player was giving him.

I'm in 18 so was fairly close to it and in line with it. Dunkley's arm definitely looked to have come down in a punching action, perhaps it was the ground rather than the player but that is the case then I didn't realise punching the ground was a bookable offence

You’ve set a challenge now, sure we’ll find out. Surely you don't mean Pilch was wrong about something again? It'll be a B and A meltdown. With regards to the decision It's almost like the officials are closer to the action and are better placed to make decisions than the fans. No I don’t mean that. We all give opinions not facts, opinions differ but sometimes an opinion becomes a fact in the next argument.

The fact that the Vale fans and layers weren’t demanding a red would suggest that their player had not been punched.
