Happy to leave it at that provided you make it absolutely clear that it wasn't me who "bombarded you with s**tty PMs" or reported your post. The only time I've ever conversed with you via PM is when you've initiated the exchange.

I have a terrible feeling about this game. I forecast a war of attrition , both sides demonstrating the dark arts with numerous bookings, the ref losing complete control but confident enough to send a couple of players off . Oh, and PV may well be celebrating at full time after a highly contentious goal settles it. The Brooklands car park will resemble a night out in Beirut with police, dogs , fans and innocent bystanders court up in total carnage . I think I may well stay at home and wash me hair Saturday afternoon if that’s alright .I’m far to old for all this excitement .😳 Hopefully not as contentious as when Luke Daniels was kicked in the face and needed 18 stitches.

Fair challenge according to the ref who was about 50 yds behind the play. I reckon he was compensating for sending one of their players off a few mins earlier. Have rarely felt so angry after a game.

Well, let's try to rephrase that comment. Burslem would not be very high up on a tourist visiting list. In fact it would be virtually certain to be completely absent. Stoke voted 69% vote for Leave in 2016, more than any other large UK town or city. There was a sense of having being abandoned; a contempt for all the mainstream parties; a belief that, somehow, a Britain which “ control” of its own rules and laws would make a difference to Stoke-on-Trent. All government seems far away and indifferent. Brussels seems furthest away of all. “There is an association in many people’s minds between the EU and UK membership since 1973, because of everything that has changed in Stoke since then — the decline of the pits and pots,” he said. “European immigration is also a big, big issue. There is a resentment at new foreign faces and voices in a traditionally parochial place that’s long had a bit of migration but never very much.” Stoke is 95% white and English born. Of all the places I visited in Stoke-on-Trent, Burslem was the most distressing. I remembered a lively little town with grand 18th-century and 19th-century buildings. The buildings survive but are mostly empty. Burslem has become a ghost town since the Royal Doulton works closed in 2005. Most production has emigrated to Indonesia. unherd.com/2019/11/stoke-the-city-that-britain-forgot/Stoke, too far from Manchester, too far from Birmingham, therefore doesn't get a Metro or anything that would make travel around the five towns easier.
Pits closed, pots closed, only the Coates family seem to invest in new jobs there.

I take your point to an extent; the linking of the five towns would work wonders; there isn't much left of the route of the old (North Staffordshire Railway) Potteries Loop, which did just that - if it had been preserved, like Wolverhampton LL to Birmingham Snow Hill, after the line closed, it would have been ideal for a modern metro system!

Only to be outdone by Mr Deadman stating later that ‘he hadn’t realised how serious it was at the time’. I was livid because it was his job to know. At least as northwestman says karma kicked in later.

Port Vale are hopeful that new signing Matty Taylor from Oxford will be fit for match at town on Saturday but not for their home match tomorrow against Accrington tomorrow night. Good player who has always played well against us. Oxford fans surprised he was let go.

Alright gents, it's been a while. I've certainly missed the unique Shropshire sense of humour. Hasn't been the best few weeks, not helped by the lack of strikers available. Wilson will certainly be out but are hoping that Ellis Harrison and Matty Taylor can start. This fixture always seems to have a bit of bite, a decent crowd and away following should see the same again. Looking forward to a good few beers in town and hopefully 3 points prior to returning to our glorious little down

I remember being absolutely seething at that moment, the Vale fans invaded the pitch and the referee absolutely bottled it, their keeper Joe Anyon ran the full length to celebrate with the pitch invading Valiants then goaded the fans in the south stand on the way back to his area… so inevitably he ended up joining us a few years later! Think he was mainly back up to Chris Weale when he was here?

I believe we beat them in the rearranged fixture anyway.

The journey seems to improve the farther you go from Burslem, starting outside Shropshire, somewhere around the Mainwaring Arms.
We've been doing pretty well recently, not a good time to be playing us. You can look forward to a great big Shropshire welcome, hope all goes off in the right spirit.

Safe standing nearly sold out. Away end sold out. Limited availability in most other blocks. Block 19 will end up being full with it being against Vale. Easily 8000+.

I'm heading back to Shrewsbury on Sunday afternoon anyway as I have a funeral to attend on Monday, but still coming back for this one, just for the day on Saturday before Saturday night back in Suffolk. Gonna be an almost 1000 mile weekend but needs must.

Hope Pennington is fit enough to play. Just the kind of personality you are likely to need in a tough derby match especially if Taylor plays. He will be keen to impress the sell out Vale supporters.
