Gets something right!
Nadine Dorries, who as culture secretary under Boris Johnson championed plans for Channel 4 privatisation, has responded to the news that her policy is being abandoned by unleashing a Twitter broadside against No 10. She says the government has now abandoned so many policies that it will be “impossible” for voters to believe the promises it makes at the next election.
"Three years of a progressive Tory government being washed down the drain. Levelling up, dumped. Social care reform, dumped. Keeping young and vulnerable people safe online, watered down. A bonfire of EU leg, not happening. Sale of C4 giving back £2b reversed. Replaced with what?
A policy at some time in the future to teach maths for longer with teachers we don’t yet even have to do so.
Where is the mandate- who voted for this?
Will now be almost impossible to face the electorate at a GE and expect voters to believe or trust our manifesto commitments".

When was this ‘three years of progressive Tory government’ then?
I certainly missed it.

Nadine Dorries, another in the long line of Priti Patels, Truss', Osbournes, etc. who cause mayhem then exit stage left. Honourabe mention for Boris Johnson who promised much, Brexit done, but it wasn't, social care sorted, but it wasn't, levelling up, more like levelling down, NHS safe in their hands?

Truss still has ambitions to return, as does Johnson. Both consider themselves to be hard done by and in the right.

Whereas the only people who have been hard done by are us, the electorate.

How would you like to tune into “ On the Sofa “ with Daniel K. Surely it can’t be too long before we get the chance to watch Daniel answer those questions we all want to ask . His first quest - Lucy Allan .

When asked whether presenters such as Schofield have too much power, Ms Dorries, who has been presenting herself recently, added: 'There are men, men particularly, who have positions of authority or trust and power, who kind of think they are above the law and above those standards that the rest of us are held by and held to.
'I think there's absolutely an element of that which takes place.'
As the number one defender of Johnson, she's too thick to see the irony of what she's just said.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/jul/27/nadine-dorries-urged-to-quit-as-mp-by-council-in-her-constituencyA council in Nadine Dorries’s constituency is demanding that she immediately resign as an MP, saying “residents desperately need effective representation now”. The council’s town clerk, Stephanie Stanley, wrote: “Rather than representing constituents, the council is concerned that your focus appears to have been firmly on your television show, upcoming book and political manoeuvres to embarrass the government for not appointing you to the House of Lords”. Stanley claimed that the MP had not maintained a constituency office “for a considerable time”, adding that it was widely understood that she had not held a surgery in the town since March 2020. The town mayor and councillor, Andy Snape, said demands were growing in the community for Dorries to “do the right thing rather than continue to hold the people of Mid Bedfordshire to ransom while she plays political games for personal gain”. Snape also criticised her for living in the Cotswolds rather than in her constituency.

I understand about 3000 people have signed a petition to get the law changed . As things stand she cannot be deselected by her Constituents even though her attendance record in the House is appalling. If 100000 people sign a petition to deselect her then the House must debate the issue and vote . I think I have got that right . Anyhow , it’s not going to happen . She has a book out soon on her favourite subject - Boris Johnson. No wonder her name was removed from the peerage list , she is determined to inflict as much damage as possible on Sunak and her Party . A despicable woman .

In a letter posted on Twitter following a meeting of Shefford town council, Ken Pollard, the mayor, said:
I have been asked to write to you formally on behalf of the residents of Shefford to raise the town’s concerns and frustration at the continuing lack of representation for the people of Mid Bedfordshire at Westminster.
In your role as the acting member of parliament of Mid Bedfordshire, residents of Shefford feel that, due to your scant interest in your constituency, your aversion to attending local events or services and your lack of a maintained constituency office, the local area has been ‘abandoned’ by yourself.
Your last spoken contribution in the House of Commons was on June 7, 2022, and your last written question was asked on the December 20, 2017. In addition, your behaviour and actions reported in the press are in direct violation of ‘The Seven Principles of Public Life’ (also known as the Nolan Principles, published on May 31 1995), which apply to anyone who works as a public officeholder and all those who are elected or appointed to public office.
Our residents desperately need effective representation now, and Shefford town council calls on you to honour your commitment and tender your resignation immediately.
Shefford is the second town council in the constituency to call for Dorries to go. Last month Flitwick town council issued a similar statement.

Nadine Dorries throws her toys completely out of the pram. www.theguardian.com/politics/2023/aug/26/nadine-dorries-formally-resigns-as-mp-after-11-week-delayNadine Dorries has handed in her resignation letter 11 weeks after announcing she would resign in protest over not receiving a peerage. The MP for Mid Bedfordshire announced that she would be leaving her seat with “immediate effect” in June but had failed to do so until today. Her resignation means an election will be held in her constituency within weeks. In a scathing attack on Rishi Sunak, Dorries accused the prime minister of putting her personal safety at risk by “whipping a public frenzy against her” and disclosed that police had visited her home last week, warning her about a threat to her security. The former culture secretary, 66, also accused the prime minister of abandoning “the fundamental principles of Conservatism” and said “history will not judge you kindly”.

No, she put her personal safety at risk, if indeed it has been, by completely failing in her duties as an MP. And she wonders why she wasn’t considered suitable for a peerage??

A purile and spiteful letter so enveloped in poor punctuation, inept grammar and weak exposition, that this is not even the savaging of a dead sheep; this is the fury of an incontinent cabbage. Once again, Dorries demonstrates that she could never belong in the House of Lords but she also shows why she has avoided responding to letters- her letter writing is appalling. This also raises questions about the authorship of her own books or indeed commands praise for the overwhelming brilliance of her then editors and publishing house. As a senior politician, she has been long in need of guidance and sadly she listened to her own inner voice. the House of Commons will be blessed by her departure.
