Ruled by themselves.
Alternative headline here; woman breaches BBC impartiality standards, is censured by BBC. Suggests to me the impartiality standard is effective at achieving impartiality, no?

unfortently the bbc have not been impartical for a long time. The proof of the pudding is that both right and left complain about the BBC in equal measure which says something about perceived bias.

There is a commonly held perception that the BBC fails in its duty to convey the news impartially but I have not seen clear evidence of this (as opposed to opinion). Much of this opinion is perpetrated by papers such as the Mail and the Telegraph who are clearly not impartial in their reporting. One of the reasons why I no longer read the DT was its incessant anti-BBC agenda which frankly became boring and demeaned the profession of journalism.
Martine Croxall expressing glee may have been misplaced but the late night paper review often takes a relatively light-hearted view of the news. It wasn’t as though Huw Edwards had done this on the Ten O’Clock News.
On the wider accusation of bias - journalists on the BBC often challenge government ministers over policy and conduct but surely this is a necessary function of public service broadcasting. I would be surprised if anyone could prove that Labour ministers were given an easier time prior to 2010. Thank goodness the BBC is not an organ of the state, and let’s not forget that we have an alternative commercial service if we don’t like the style or content put out by the BBC.
Interestingly enough, two of the BBC’s most respected journalists, Emily Maitlis and John Sopel, recently left the Corporation because they felt the insistence on impartiality was stifling what they really wanted to report. They now work for the commercial station LBC. Is anyone concerned that that particular organ is or isn’t impartial?

I personally think that they have biased in favour of the Tories over the last 12 years, others will think they have been biased the other way. The same goes for ITV News. To be honest I would rather watch Channel 4 News over either of the other two, as I think that they are a lot more honest.

It revealed speaker ratios on the BBC, as high as 5:1, and never less than 2:1, in favour of the Remain campaign on EU membership." www.politics.co.uk/reference/bbc-bias/
