As Steve Cross said on the radio ,the fitness levels off the team are quite outstanding. Certainly the best since that Hurst season This does not mean it would not be good to have a couple more signings to bring off the bench SC please note ,but tremendous energy by the 11 tonight

SC mentioned fitness levels in his post match interview with Radio Shropshire last night. He was saying that our superior levels of fitness will tell, particularly in the later stages of games. It’s clearly something the coaching staff have been working on. It’ll certainly help in close games like last night.

Funny because I thought we looked dead on our feet from about 70 minutes You could see Cotterill frantically gesturing for Udoh and Pyke to press and there was nothing left in the tank on either of them. Begs the question why Bloxham or even someone like Caton wasn't brought on to chase shadows for the last 20 mins. Defensively we were solid as a rock but the only real moments of note going forward were Udoh lazily trying to lob the keeper just after the break and Pyke (I think) completely slicing a chance over the bar. Work rate off the ball 10/10 Ability with the ball 6/10

Suppose they have to be fit with the full knowledge that they probably won’t be subbed off.

I agree with him in the most part. He admits Udoh isn't fit yet he played the full 90 minutes. I disagree on Shipley - I thought he was absent throughout and looks a bit overweight if it's not too unkind to say that. The kindest thing you can say about Pyke is that he's a 'trier' and clearly has the right attitude. He seems to bracing us for more of the same on Saturday.

Funny because I thought we looked dead on our feet from about 70 minutes 3 games in 8 days with a small squad and a couple of key injuries will affect fitness, they’re not all Superman… Also think we picked up a couple of knocks yesterday that could make even Saturday more difficult to maintain fitness levels. We have to trust SC, he likes a small squad 🤔

A small squad can be great for developing cohesion and team spirit, but it makes things fragile. It's easy to see how our season could come unstuck very, very quickly.
We must hope for the best, however; and there is no questioning our current work rate.

Definately bracing us for more of the same Saturday. Udoh and Shipley hopefully both that little step up from having played the full 90. But all 11 needing plenty of sleep and preparation before Saturday. At least they will be up for it. Should we expect more from Bloxham, Caton, etc? Maybe the League Cup and pizza cup will help them make the step up?
