The BBC have managed to get rid of the long held tradition of giving the football results at 5 pm on a Saturday due to the all conquering Premier League. The rest obviously are to be despised. Disgraceful

Disgraceful not quite sure what you mean but if it's what i think you mean i'm grumpy too i miss the weekly 21:55 radio 2 sports report , sometimes the only way of finding out how the town got on that night

James Alexander Gordon would be spinning in his grave.

Maybe if enough people complain to the BBC things will change?

There are certain things in football which are sacred such as a Saturday 3.00pm kick off. The results being read at 5.00 pm is part of the Saturday Afternoon experience.
This is a disgraceful decision by BBC.
Is there a petition up yet because I’ll sign in a heartbeat
Shocking

I don’t know when they will get it into their thick heads and there are thousands of us outside Broadcasting House who just don’t give a damn.

The more that do this the better. The classifieds were always THE most important part of Sports Report and it only a very few minutes. Just how can they justify this?

Henry Winter was having a right rant on radio 4 this afternoon. He's convinced the BBC will be forced to reverse their decision.

I wonder if it’s anything to do with the fact that, increasingly, games aren’t finishing until close to 5pm due to the number of subs now allowed?
I know most people can get results by their phones, but if you in your car, it’s best way of hearing all the league’s results.
BBC are a law unto themselves these days IMO.

Nothing is sacred anymore.
Without sounding like the old man shouting at the weather, the game only ever seems to change for the worse.
I utterly detest the five-sub rule.
Why can't things just be left alone?

😂😂😂 I thought the above posts were …. Nothing sacred? Its the footy results. All for tradition but with everything else going on in the country I won’t loose sleep. Is everyone waiting pencil in hand to check their coupons? Anyone in the car at 4.45 to 5.00 can get the results on talk sport.Usually about 4.55.

Talk Sport is the work of the devil and many people can't get it on their radio even if they wanted.

With all the antics going on, on the pitch on Saturday no chance of getting back to the car by 5pm!

This also fails to take into account that there are still a significant number of us who do not possess smartphones and rely on being able to hear the results on the car radio, as I have done for at least 50 years.
Radio Shropshire will usually give out the results, but I've no idea what time they do so, as this varies each week.

Like the theme music to The Archers and Desert Island Discs, Sports Report's rousing signature tune is part of the soundtrack to British life.
When the music fades, after a few breathless headlines it's straight into the Saturday ritual of the classified football results. Well not any more.
As part of its baleful campaign of cultural cleansing, the BBC has axed the results from their 5pm slot on Radio 5 Live.
The five minutes it up is being filled instead with yet more inane chatter (as if there weren't enough already!) in the build-up to the 5.30pm match.
There could hardly be a more ill-judged decision. It achieves nothing and alienates listeners who hold this tiny jewel of British sporting tradition in huge affection.
Daily Mail.

Radio Shropshire will usually give out the results, but I've no idea what time they do so, as this varies each week. There's an opportunity for local radio stations to give themselves a big boost by pinching the exact same format of the classified results at a fixed time that Radio 5 have ditched. Those who moved over might find it refreshing to hear news of their local club's exploits, rather than always the Premier League. Those still transfixed by the Premier League could just "station hop" for a few minutes.

The extra 5 mins could be easily made up by reducing the ludicrous amount of time spent on Telford.

I'd like to see every local radio station go over to the classified football results - THE music included, at a specific time. Since they do eventually get around to mentioning other results currently, there would be hardly any loss of time.
I have emailed feedback@bbc.co.uk with the idea, so that the BBC can conveniently ignore it.
