I can see Macclesfield are in the draw, it will be interesting to see how they progress. (away to Wythenshawe Town). Bury AFC also involved, away to Hallam. Two clubs trying to rise from the FL ashes. Both clubs through to the first round qualifying.

Market Drayton v Shifnal was a real advert for non-league football on Friday night. I've seen a few local games before but never in Shropshire. Never seen more of a 'game of two halves' either - Shifnal absolutely dominating the first half. Never seen a non-league side play 'ole's' before after about 15-20 consecutive passes. Pitch was an absolute dream compared to some of these awful 3G pitches you get nowadays. Game turned on it's head second half and couldn't help but get caught up in it all when Drayton scored a late header. Shifnal also had a penalty to make it 0-2 to put the game to bed but missed. The magic of the FA Cup and all that! Coventry United or Highgate in the next round. Market Drayton v Highgate was a great advert for non-league football. Never been to Drayton before the extra preliminary game but a real good setup there and I absolutely hope to be back again. Look forward to the next round of the draw to see where the road takes us. I'm hoping Highgate at home (Shirley)

I remember that but without checking, I’ll put my neck on the block and say that I think we won 1-0.

I remember that but without checking, I’ll put my neck on the block and say that I think we won 1-0. Wrong. November ‘58, drew 0-0 and then beat them 5-0 at the Meadow. The year before our Floodlights were up and running so that must have been one of the midweek games that I got a glimpse of through the window of the school science lab next door. No wonder I was not brilliant at Chemistry!

Sadly Whitchurch went out 3-1 today. I see Junior Brown scored again for Alport, good signing for them.

Went to Barwell v Highgate on Saturday - Barwell needing a last minute equaliser to take the Shirley-based side two steps below them in the football pyramid to a replay.
Decent game considering it was on a horrible plastic pitch. Decent little set-up there as well.
The winner of tonight's replay is at home to Kettering - a game we've already committed to going to for our sins.

Telford Uniteds FA Cup dreams are over as soon as they start. Lost 4-2 at home to the mighty Chasetown. Ouch.

Telford Uniteds FA Cup dreams are over as soon as they start. Lost 4-2 at home to the mighty Chasetown. Ouch. Woeful. We have some sort of "special operation" with Telford don't we? Isn't there anyone we could loan them, if the cut off date hasn't passed?

Went to Winchester City v Weymouth yesterday.
Thought might be chance of an upset but an early Weymouth goal and 2 pens in 2 mins gave Weymouth 3-0 lead after just 20 mins. Winchester pulled one back before HT but finished 1-3.

Went to Scarborough Athletic v Dunston UTS. Like watching the Town for the first 29 minutes, neither side had, had a shot on target at that point. Finished 3-2 to Scarborough who were clinging on at the end despite being 2 Divisions higher than their opponents.
New ground is very similar to Scarborough's old ground. So far managed to see a game in every round of the FA Cup this year. Of the previous sides I saw win, Bishops Cleeve and Walton & Hersham are both facing replies to get to the 3rd Qualifying Round.

Went to Telford v Chasetown. Exciting end to end stuff from a neutral. Excruciating from Telford supporters view. Brilliant headed 3rd goal for Chasetown. Telford having a tough time.

Tbh I dont give a stuff about Telford having a bad time. Still remember 2003/4 and some of the fans comments about us (not the biggest club in Shropshire now are we boys....) And the banners over the M54 bridge on our returns from Wembley.

And the banners over the M54 bridge on our returns from Wembley. That was a generation ago. Clubs in the area get above themselves sometimes, but it doesn't last They have their place in the pyramid, and like other clubs of that sort nearby, that should be at least two divisions below us.

What happened to the Telford saviour, Andy Shaw? Have any of the rogue owners of other failed clubs like Blackpool, Bury, Darlington etc been held to account?

That's the trouble when you become part of a circus, you are expected to perform to suit those paying out when they want you to. It's a bit like the PL, except in this case its many leagues lower in standard & interest.
