i do feel sorry for the police i think the majority do a good job in very difficult curcumstances but as with many public services are underfunded and have to pick up the problems that are a result of cuts in other services. unfortently a small miorit of the police are in the headlines for the wrong reasons and the met seem in a real mess As a force that is embroiled in crises over women, race and homophobia .let us hope the new boss can make meaningful reforms and regain the trust of the public. www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2022/jul/08/mark-rowley-appointed-new-commissioner-of-the-metropolitan-police"Sir Mark Rowley is to become the new commissioner of the Metropolitan police, after winning the top job in British law enforcement by promising “urgent reforms” to lead the country’s biggest force out of crisis. Rowley, 57, a former head of counter-terrorism, left the Met in 2018 and returns after time in the private sector. He was selected over the Met assistant commissioner Nick Ephgrave, the other candidate to reach the final shortlist of two. Rowley returns to find the force facing one of the worst crises since its founding in 1829. It has been placed in special measures by the policing inspectorate for the first time in its history"

Sir Mark Rowley a man of the people or jobs for the boys, I think the latter maybe, and no doubt will fill the multi cultural London population with full of confidence!! The issue is that unless he can get the Mayor of London and Home Secretary behind him he may be drinking from the poison chalice, as those two will certainly stick the knife in if it goes pear shaped.

is this the same Met that were predicted on here to sweep cake gate under the carpet as they are up the tories arses etc ? Yes it is the same one. It's also the same one who were not going to even investigate the incidents until the independent inquiry starting to reveal what had happened.

Pretty much like dildo johnson they completely misread the mood of the country.

And then they were damned by a small number of ardent Tory supporters/people who aren't Tories but defend them at all costs for actually doing their job.
