I reckon we’ll have a couple of youngsters on bench most games “for the experience” though they’ll rarely get on for League games.

Looking at our squad now (and taking into account cotterils and dunks comments of it being a smaller squad) realistically I can only see 2 new additions. Hopefully fornah in the defensive mid position and a yoof at left wing back. For depth in midfield fornah plus one would be nice however I think we shall see more of Bennett there this season so maybe another midfield loan? Also poor pyke (still listed as out on loan on the club website!) to depart for his and the clubs sake All in all it's been a very refreshing bit of transfer business pre Spain trip. Hat off to Burt and cotts The long lists I've seen may be unrealistic but I'd hope for more than 2. Currently only have 16 senior players and that includes Pyke and Bloxham. So space for another 4 if Pyke is included, or 5 if not. Small squad is one thing, but would hope Cotterill will have learnt some lessons from last year and also have to factor in that 5 subs is now allowed. I'd hope for 3 or 4 in - a LWB, a defensive midfielder and another attacking option, whether a no10 or striker. Maybe another defensive option who can cover CB. The latter ones on loan. This is unless Cotterill sees Craig, Caton, Barlow etc as genuine first team options. But they clearly weren't last season Yup agree with that

I'd expect more random ones like Nurse, but if they're as good as him, bring them on. You expect a Donny rejuvenated after the transfer window may have one or two good players in their bunch. Nurse and Janneh came from Bristol City, so wouldn't be surprised if there was more business from them. Taylor Moore? Robbie Cindy? Korey Moore or Marlon Pack out of reach? I'm claiming this! 😂

Do we need another midfielder? Yes a CDM. Leahy can do a job there but wouldn’t be too confident about Bennett

Do we need another midfielder? I'd say at least one more - ideally two

If Fornah comes in on loan, I swear down, we’re making play-offs minimum.

Tyrese Fornah would complete midfield for me. He's travelled with them to Spain on their training camp so wouldn't expect much movement for him as yet. Would be surprised if he came back to town anyway

Pity about luke freeman, was he at Bristol with cotterill? Yea, he must be able to play a bit. 4 times he's moved for an undisclosed fee. You don't fetch that kind of money for nuffing.

Marcus Maddison signed for Darlington Had a lot of struggles in his life over last few years. Think he announced his retirement after leaving Peterborough. Still trying to give it a go, and returning back to North East makes sense.

Shows the money in the championship when even Luton are rumoured to be spending £2m on a relegated striker who didn't even get double figures last season.

Maybe I've missed something but why did Rooney leave his job on the verge of a takeover being completed? I gather he left because the Kirchner takeover fell through, Derby are now owned by David Clowes instead. Rooney’s wages were being paid for by a betting company and not Derby County. They decided that they weren’t going to pay the wages anymore and Derby couldn’t afford what Rooney was on. Hence why he left.

Had a very brief spell for us back in the day. When we played them away he was playing in midfield. Was very circumspect. My son in law is a Crewe fan and a regular attendee, last season my daughter made him attend if he had annoyed her during the week😀 His view is if you want a big lump up front,to which you can bounce the ball off, then he's your man.
