I had hoped I’d also be reading the club are assisting btp in identifying those who thought it ok to urinate on a train in front of other members of the public and leave brim full cups for unsuspecting staff/kids/public to discover Let’s start clamping down on these fools Did you report it? Do you know who did it? Do the club even know about it? I agree about your last line 👍 if it was a movie I'd have poured it over his head , slapped about 8 of them, got a round of applause and sat back down ;-) I did think to video them but with fans crammed in front and behind you with eyes on you, turning a blind eye was the sensible thing to do at the time, and as I've hinted, had the other thing not happened and sunday night I appeared with my secret filming we all know where that would go, so no

Yes I think ‘champions of Shropshire’ is surely just a chant saying well there’s one award you can’t possibly get over on us. I thought it was quite funny, sadly there are people who will go out of their way to be upset by stuff like this. who was upset ?, if it was aimed at me I said I thought it was the stuff of 5 year olds and cringeworthy, I mean lets hope crewe dont start reminding us on saturday we've never been champions of the Cheshire east cup

They have the people, the place and the time.
Liverpool city centre will be crawling with CCTV.
And local people will know. They'll have seen that group on the train, around the city, at the ground.

Glad most of you express your disgust. Sadly there are a few who are making excuses. Probably part time Everton, united, city or Chelsea fans. Trouble is, these chants aren't dying out.....they are getting worse every year. You expect it from united, Chelsea and some Everton. But now it's spread to nearly every club Liverpool play. Tin pot fans like Leicester gave livetpool dogs abuse recently during both games. It's as if they want to build some sort of rivalry with a big club and Liverpool are an easy target.and of course they excuse their behaviour by going back nearly 40 years to heysel. Maybe klopp is now becoming a target because he's German!

These are fair points I guess - I'm still skeptical as to whether cctv (most of which has no sound) will serve much purpose. Besides, is it down to shrewsbury town or west mercia police now?

Just to say that Burgoyne may well have been voicing his personal thoughts. For all we know he and/or his family may have some personal connection to what happened at Hillsborough.

In no way condoning what has happened or making excuses for some the less pleasant actions this thread has brought up, but the stark reality is that football chanting and bad behaviour of all kinds, good, bad, and very bad has been going on for many many years. It's not a new phenomenon and will continue to do so, but it is very much a minority that take part in the worst cases and these seem to take precedence, especially with the relative ease of social media etc putting it out there with 100 different views. It does seem sometimes that people forget that they have just been to a football game and the tribal behaviour is part and parcel of it, always has been (read the Soccer Tribe by Desmond Morris), and always will be. Maybe people want a silent atmosphere with maybe a song book of allowed songs, and a code of behaviour that everyone adhered to. This portrayal of certain types of people who go to games is no different in many ways to town and city centres in the evenings at weekends, tribal behaviour, and back in the 70s and 80s it was considerably worse than it is now. Aside from the sideshow I enjoyed the atmosphere yesterday and always do when there is some noise, it certainly made the Liverpool fans, and the Sheffield Wednesday fans the previous week, probably wishing they had the same amount of enthusiasm amongst their own.

Surely the supporters amongst us who aren’t pondlife and did nothing wrong yesterday don’t take offence at Burgoyne’s tweet as it’s clearly not directed at them? I know I certainly don’t, respect to him for tweeting it. What with the Gillingham fight he’s doing some great work off the pitch. He's a clearly identifiable employee of STFC. He shouldn't be wading in with comments about an incident unless he knows he's following the STFC line. Perhaps this, and the altercation with Gillingham indicate he can be a little too "spur of the moment"? Thought we liked a bit of passion? Burgoyne has had a lot of stick on here in his time, but he's always quick to praise his team mates and show his support, which is hugely commendable from someone who rarely plays. I have a lot of time and respect for him and speaking out on this only adds to that. It's something that happened in public, that doesn't involve the club directly and on which he should be free to comment if he feels strongly about it, not be required to keep quiet and see what the company line is.

That's a total straw man. You can have all the banter in the world without demeaning the memory of 97 people just like you me who died at a game like what we go to and then were subject to one of the greatest establishment cover ups in the nation's history.

We need to be less tribal, not entrench that mentality even more.

Noise at a game is great, ignorant and offensive insults are not. We can have noise and atmosphere without that - in fact it's a much better atmosphere without it.

No Everton fan would ever mention it. Are you crazy? Didn't say they mocked Hillsborough but they do sing always the victims, murderers, justice for the 39 and do wall pushing gestures. Not to mention other sick chants hoping certain people die

Not to mention other sick chants hoping certain people die "They"? What, like "Shrewsbury fans" did yesterday? We know it was a tiny minority of Shrewsbury fans involved in this, but if you then lump Everton, Chelsea, Leicester and United fans into single tribal groups, you couldn't argue if someone lumped all Shrewsbury fans into the same group as those idiots yesterday.

Grief, I feel really embarrassed just reading this. Surely this cannot be true , no one could actually start singing this . Aaaaaaarh, it’s just bloody unbelievable . Mind you, I can understand the Liverpool fans singing it back at us 😉😳 It’s called irony and I thought it was quite funny……. Could well be . Fancy block 19 doing irony - who would have thought it. Before you reply , as I’m sure you are going to , I’m only joking . “Who said it was Block 19 inhabitants “ he said . Who indeed .

It's stayed well hidden from me, in fact I never think of hooligan followings when I go to football because I never really see any trouble, which wasn't always the case many years ago. But why do you seem to want to define a club's fans by the behaviour of one tiny element?

Before you reply , as I’m sure you are going to , I’m only joking . “Who said it was Block 19 inhabitants “ he said . Who indeed . I’m pretty sure it would have been started by regular away fans and those in Safe Standing where a popular chant is ‘We’ve won the Shropshire Senior cup 67 times’ ……The ‘You’ve never won The Shropshire Senior Cup’ was just an ironic follow on to that was my understanding. Not sure where you got the idea block 19 were involved they were more likely to have started The Adams Family which you never hear in the South Stand and rarely away unless it’s a large away following.

No. He was acting the fool and being pig ignorant in order to get a laugh. Many on here thought it was funny and posted all their complaints about how horrible Liverpool were as a club. The list of things to moan about was endless. Game not on live due to Liverpool apparently, tickets being collected from Everton, liverpool fielding kids, klopp not being there etc. Then the posts went on about liverpool being a dump anfield smelling of drugs, getting your car robbed, moaning about ax2pm Sunday kick off Then you wonder why some idiots sing stupid songs!
