Disagree we should take the Cup seriously, get a top Prem team in the next round and we get a good pay day. Goalkeepers don’t tend to get injured and could probably play a game every day and it doesn’t really matter as they’re not running round the pitch. Anyway, you’d be the first to slate Rash Harry if he makes a goof 😉 we are not even taking the league seriously, never mind the cup if 2 of our players sat on the bench are not capable of playing against a lower league opposition they shouldn't even be in the squad We have the Papa John trophy for that.

Marosi Ogbeta Pennington Ebanks Pierre Daniels Leahy Nurse Vela Leshabela Cosgrove That team looks too nice. I think that’s our problem, no leaders in the whole squad. I don’t see players calling each other out on the pitch.

I think this game is now bigger than it ever was before given our league form, a huge chance to progress and secure a premier league team in R3. If we were to win and then draw a big prem club it would certainly gloss over the start to our league campaign. That said, lose tomorrow night and erm.....

I’d take lose tomorrow and win Saturday over win tomorrow and loose Saturday every time. A win tomorrow but we loose the first 5 league games won’t go down at all well.

Can see your point, but a win inspires a confidence that can go on into league games. A big round 3 tie also gets the adrenalin flowing in the team. We need something to cheer everyone up.
No gossip from Lewis Cox about any incomings doesn't help the mood.

Rochdale won 3-1 at Northampton on Saturday so I don't think we should be underestimating them in anyway. They have the chance of a PL club in round 3 as much as us.

That said, lose tomorrow night and erm..... this game doesn’t matter to the club Why should we be concerned about it ? if we win maybe we can compare how we felt last season after victories v Bolton and Cambridge

whilst this article is about our last game and our poor start it also highlights the chalenge SC faces to get things back on track. whilst fans were relived to stay up and were all concerned for SC health during his time with covid.(no one knows how much that took out of him) when we are 10 to 12 games will give us a chance to see how things are. at some point fans will be less tolerant ,especially if we look at Akeys and Ricketts time in charge www.shropshirestar.com/sport/football/shrewsbury-town-fc/2021/08/23/verdict-tough-start-continues-as-shrewsbury-town-fail-to-fire-yet-again/"No-one would’ve wanted this to happen...we didn’t want to end up with a start like this.”Steve Cotterill hit the nail on the head with that particular assessment following his Shrewsbury side’s fourth defeat from four League One games. There was so much optimism and goodwill heading into the new season at Montgomery Waters Meadow. If someone had suggested Town would lose their first four league games they may have been laughed at. If they suggested no goals would also come in that time – even at Shrewsbury, a team not renowned for rolling sides over with big scorelines – their sanity might have been questioned. And yet, here we are. Last March, Cotterill was lauded after guiding Town away from League One danger with the best points return – while also dreadfully ill with Covid-19 – after 15 games of any manager in the club’s history. Fast-forward six months and the manager’s return to the dugout has not gone as planned. That is an understatement. Following Saturday’s hugely disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Plymouth, Town have lost their opening four league games for just the third time – and first in 40 years – in the club’s 71-year Football League history." What’s more, it is the first time Town have opened up without scoring a single goal in a four-game winless spell to start. Six hours, or 360 minutes, of league action this term without finding the back of the net. The only club remaining in the Football League yet to score. The attacking statistics did not make for particularly good reading for Town. Sixty-three per cent possession is a good sign and a sign the team are taking on the manager’s new way of playing, 28 crosses into the box is promising – there is a big emphasis on working the ball wide – as is 11 corners and 17 efforts at goal. But the telling and damaging stat is just one of those 17 shots was on target – Daniel Udoh’s left-footed strike from distance before the break. Michael Cooper in the Plymouth goal was untested and had an easy afternoon despite Shrewsbury spending most of the 90 minutes camped in the Pilgrims’ half. Ryan Lowe’s visitors, by contract, had just five efforts at goal on an afternoon in which they spent a lot of time defending – excellently – and counter-attacking. Four of those attempts were on target and three ended up in the back of the net, Ryan Hardie with a brace and striking partner Luke Jephcott with the other. Plymouth gave a snapshot of most of what Town have been lacking in their opening four games of the league season. That being resolute, solid, dependable defending and a clinical edge at the other end of the pitch where it matters."

Ok, maybe I'm clutching at straws to give us a slight chance, hopefully he will be on our side.
