Well, Meatloaf's BMI and fitness did not look great, sadly passed away at 74. Remember that when it comes to losing a little weight and taking excercise. I agree entirely and think the gov should do more to kick people into shape , not sure how , restrictions or higher national insurance , some kind of mot is required Along the same lines maybe they could introduce a liability insurance for those who needlessly spread covid , not wearing a mask is a bit like drinking and driving in a way š I think examples work well, I know the "nudge" gets a bad press with NWM, but if it works to nudge people into a better lifestyle that's a good thing.
With regard to Covid, Boris and Co have to set an example if they want us to chose to wear a mask.
Here's an example of the "nudge" working: In India, people dodged accross the railway track in front of trains and some got killed, They introduced interventions, based on principles of cognitive neuroscience and behavioural economics that have so far reduced the death rate by 44%.
First, in order to help people gauge more accurately the speed of an oncoming train, five sets of sleepers at intervals of 100 metres have been painted yellow, with the nearest set of these sleepers about 150 m from the black spot. The idea is for people to watch how quickly the yellow sleepers are being swallowed as the train approaches them.
Second, a āwhistle boardā has been put up 120 m from the spot, asking the motorman to blow the hooter with breaks in between, described as a āstaccato hornā. Research suggests the human brain reacts better to a staccato horn than to a single, long blast.
Third, a huge board with a picture of a man with vivid expressions as he is being hit by a train, has been put up at all locations.

Perfectly legal, but doesn't make it right.
It's perfectly legal to scoff a packet of doughnuts, followed by a pack of biscuits with a big bottle of coke chaser; doesn't make it right.
Remember, what the government are doing is giving us back personal responsibility.

But totally agree on the first one. Going to be hugely difficult to get anything going though. Hell it's a national obsession to slump in front of the tv eating and drinking far more than is sensible, there is even a TV programme about it now with "celebrities" to "entertain" you. It's far easier to just join in that than do any exercise which involves a certain mindset and a bit of effort on their part.

Might not be right for some people, for others it seems fine. That goes for both your examples.

We now have pesonal responsibility for both, plenty of other examples I suppose, like driving within the speed limit even if it's a country road and you don't think there's ever going to be a speed check.

But they do say the good die young.

So not wearing a mask has in the last week alone been compared to *checks list* - singing offensive songs about Hillsborough and drink driving.
Anyone else with any more absurd false equivalences while we're at it?

Perfectly legal, but doesn't make it right. In your opinion. No, not in my opinion - I just said it didn't make it right, I didn't say it made it wrong.
Just another element of our lives that is now down to whatever we think of as our responsibility.
For example, Mr Grizzly does not frequent the crowded shops or places - that's the way he choses to excercise his responsibilty. I think Mr Pilch said that if he went into a shop and the staff were wearing masks, he would. Me, I will wear a mask in crowded places, or avoid, and also if vulnerable people are wearing one in my vicinity. You do whatever you consider your personal responsibility.

Perfectly legal, but doesn't make it right. In your opinion. Finally we can ALL do what we consider to be taking sensible precautions. Not just some of us with the rest being mandated to do what they dont feel was needed. So it IS Freedom Day again after all. š

b******s. I haven't worn a disposable mask at any stage. Interesting. Because at the company I worked for the disposable surgical masks were only type of mask we were allowed to wear. And the only type I believe mandated for use in the NHS. Could it be that your beloved reusable cloth mask maybe isn't the magic pill you thought it was? I'm happy with a three ply mask thank you. It says something about you that your original post was on the same day that one if us had posted that he was medically vulnerable.
