With all of the justified outcry about the size of the bar at NM, maybe we should also give some thought about the size of the club shop? I think I read somewhere on here it was proposed that it be the size of a broom cupboard. I didn't follow it up at the time as I was so outraged about the bar size. Is this another missed commercial opportunity for STFC? I know,..... we could always go back 30 years and have a garden shed which doubles on match days as the club shop. Or perhaps we could have some guy working from the boot of his car...........

Ah so I won't have to worry then..... but please don't start me off on the blue & white thing. We would have to change the name of this board to start with......
STFC IS BLUE & AMBER
but if they do realise this then the size of the shop needs to be looked at.

because despite the sale of Gay Meadow, football grants and the fact the New Meadow isnt supposed to cost more than £10million (or so it has been said) the club cant afford to put in place some community facilities (save for a grass pitch or two), only a broom cupboard and smallish bar that has three other functions....

4 by 8 meters isnt a very big space especially when you take into account the fact that the club is supposed to be trying to get facilities that would purt it in good stead for the championship. Crewe ( a team I'd imagine we'd be trying to emulate) have a club shop that is fecking huge in comparisson, probably the size that our supporters bar will be

The stadium should have been built 3 yr ago. Since then the price of steel has rocketed and cut backs have had to be made. We could have a 3 tiered bowl with huge everything but then be £32M in debt Also the problem is the footprint and the constraints the council put when the planning application was put through. Find £50,000 of your own money, become a director and build your own bar Its easy moaning about the board - I do myself but frigging look at the facts and be real for gods sake

I'm starting to get annoyed with this "footprint" stuff.
You are trying to tell me that in the original plans we had a decent size club shop but it had to be reduced to get the planning application through?
I would be very surprised if that was the case.

I don't think many of us could drop on to £50,000 - not individually anyway Matt.
The footprint is inside the club's head. If it wasn't then the club wouldn't own 26 acres, only use 15 for the ground and car parks etc and sit on the rest.
Then there is the next 26 acres which it part owns.

Still doesnt answer the questions though does it Matt..... £10million pound ground £12million for Gay Meadow. Football grants. Yes I dont know how much the land cost, however what i don know is that from the outside the figures and excuses dont exactly line up. As for this blue print bollex well people who work in planning have already said that this can easily be overcome. As for everything else, well wasnt Bill Wingrove brought in to deal with the move/new meadow etc... So surely then the argument that the board are knackered after 10 years of fighting with the council to do anything is null and void. I like many others want to see the club move to a new ground with facilities that will sustain it. Unfortunatly while we may have a ground to cope with championship footy, it appears we will have a supporters bar, club shop and community facilities that wouldnt look out of place in the Conference. The land the club own will probably also be used to turn the the place into a retail/leisure site, so thats more potential money that should be sitting in the coffers. Answer my questions with adequate answers and I will apoligise foe doubting. However it seems noone can. And yes I've written to the board before and had no answer.
