Donny manager has left to take over at Sheffield Eednesday. Andy Butler now in charge at Rovers until end of season.

Why on earth would you swap at this stage of the season from a club looking to go up to the Championship to one looking likely to drop down from it.
Wednesday are a struggling club these days and likely to remain that way for some time I would think.

I suppose he'll be earning more, they still have a chance of staying up (they're not that far off) and if they do manage to find themselves in the 3rd next season he might well feel that with a clean slate (you suspect they will offload a fair few) he has a chance of getting them up looking to how he has performed at Doncaster.
Time will tell, might be on a hiding to nothing but I can certainly see why he would make the switch.

I guess managers just look at positions as being temporary as well. They know they will get moved on so just as mercenary when it comes to wages (and pay offs).
