Well, it's the 3rd January they need to get their fingers out and announce it's Steve Cotterill.

There’s also a difference to trying to defend a one goal lead against an in form team, who’ve just made a quadruple substitution and were already starting to get on top, and scoring in the first ten minutes against a bottom half team and inviting pressure for the rest of the game. yeah, if you win Maybe one method is more likely to get those wins.

Personally, I never understood why they let the church's open on the Sabbath day?

Announcement is likely 10th /11th January That's a long time to have to think about it, only 1 team unbeaten in our division. Shouldn't even take 30secs to decide who has won it

It's an interesting concept. Awards like this would certainly alert the players in the loans market. If I was to be loaned I would be looking at playing for teams on form and this award reflects form. Hopefully SC gets it and makes us, just the slightest bit, more attractive for players.

Players are only human Pilch and most of us would be wanting to be playing for the winning team. They'd prefer to be in a happy club and a happy changing room.
Have absolutely no doubt that this latest run of results will hold us in good stead looking to this transfer window.

"Steve Cotterill (Shrewsbury Town)
Took over a side in 23rd place and with horrendous-looking December fixtures. All he did was mastermind away wins at Hull, Lincoln and Doncaster, victory over in-form Blackpool and comeback draws with Accrington, Charlton and Wigan for a magical 15-point haul."
Winner announced Fri 8th

Well we beat Blackpool, so I don't think it will be Critchley. But then it really is a tricky one after that. Town, Crewe and Oxford all unbeaten in December. I think Cotterill might just get the win because it included away wins against top four sides. But it might be close decision looking to how Crewe and Oxford went about things last month.

Crewe and Oxford were mid table sides though, we were 23rd. So our form is more remarkable in that respect

Not awfully fussed either way, probably SC feels the same. Fully deserved but far bigger issues to look towards.

He’s done really well but that would be forgotten if he doesn’t get a recognised ‘reward’ good for his CV but most managers want to be recognised by their peers as successful....

That's right of course. But I'm sure he wont really be bothered if it goes elsewhere, he has got a much bigger job to do here and he will realise that. Manager of the month award - or turn Town into play off team. Think I know which one most people would take (and remember in years to come).

This is nailed on...
David Artell (Crewe Alexandra)
His tenacious young side swept through the month unbeaten and garnered 14 points. The football they play is easy on the eye and difficult to defend against even when they are behind, as they were in four of their six games.

Neil Critchley (Blackpool)
He continues to impress in his first managerial post, building confidence and cohesion at Bloomfield Road. His team earned 11 points from six difficult matches, which included wins over promotion-chasing Portsmouth and Hull.
Karl Robinson (Oxford United)
Didn’t panic even as his side misfired during the autumn, partly due to intermittent postponements. In December they flowed through six unbeaten games, winning the last three to collect 12 points and four clean sheets across the month.
All winners will be announced on Friday 8 January.

Reading through that surely the Blackpool manager can be discounted, you have only got to read the bit on Cotterill to see why. His team lost to another top 4 contender.

This was always going to happen after the Blackpool win. Wonder how many times in history a manager has done this in their first month - I'd bet not many. A superb achievement made all the more important given the impending covid related disruption. Even if the season is not suspended the chaotic fixture list arising from so many postponements will made the remainder of the season a real grind, so a very important time to have such a superb month.
Credit to Cotterill but also to all the players involved who have demonstrated real professionalism this month (although one perhaps could ask the question why did they not before).
