And India take the lead, excellent partnership between Pant and Sundar. Changed course of the match, gonna be lucky if we get em out under 275 or even 300
Pant knocking the shine of the new ball pretty quick.
2 overs since the new ball - 22 runs

Lack of a 5th bowler plus Bess bowling full tosses has certainly not helped our cause.

Lack of a 5th bowler plus Bess bowling full tosses has certainly not helped our cause. Totally agree. We've not got the balance right for this test match. It's come to something when so far Joe Root has bowled 14 overs to 15 from Dom Bess and between them they have conceded 102 runs for no wickets. Not good, not good at all in a low scoring game so far. Rishabh Pant's 100 was special though. We'll need someone to do the same second time round.

The most England can do now is to avoid an innings defeat 🙁

All that room in the stadium and the relatively small crowd don't social distance !! It just beggars belief sometimes.

At least Lawrence has furthered his cause with some sensible batting.
There's certainly a vacancy at Number 3.

Bess has been appallingly treated by the Management. His confidence must now be shot to pieces.
Reminds me as to how Hick and Ramprakash were messed about in the 1990s. Neither ended up fulfilling their potential at Test level.

Having purchased the TV rights to the Tests, I doubt Channel 4 as best pleased with the early finishes.

As usual, an excellent article by George Dobell. www.espncricinfo.com/story/india-vs-england-4th-test-dom-bess-struggles-are-symptomatic-of-england-s-sickly-spin-system-1253895'But you have to remember why Bess was in this position. You have to remember that he has never been the first-choice spinner for his county side. You have to remember that he is 23 and has been asked to learn on the job in a huge series against the strongest of oppositions. That he was dropped, just a couple of games ago, and such was the lack of confidence in him, England asked another player to change his plans at the last minute and stay on the tour. And, when Moeen Ali declined, England demonstrated their continuing lack of confidence in Bess by declining to pick him for the third Test on a track as ideally suited for spin as you will ever see. None of that can have been especially helpful for his confidence'.

Yes. And TMS is not doing these games. They are on TalkSport. back to dodgy streams if I can be bothered Fortunately, I have a subscription to Sky Sports. And when we do get the next cricket on terrestrial TV, I doubt I'll be watching much, as I've no enthusiasm whatsoever for The Hundred, a competition not wanted by most existing cricket watchers, and certainly not amongst County Members, who see it as effectively wrecking the 50 over competition, which will now be stripped of the Counties' best players, will have no overseas stars and won't even be given a Lords Final.

I’d probably give yourself more credit than that. Don’t think there’s any good fortune at all in the matter, you’ve proactively made a decision to take out a subscription with Sky and you should be praised when you reap the benefits for that. Whilst it’s very humble of you to attribute it to good fortune, I think that just fosters an attitude of under-achievement amongst those who would have a Sky subscription had they been able to navigate the sign-up process.

Mark Wood isn't fit, so Tom Curran comes in.
India won the toss and will field.
