I’m thinking Gary Stevens , Steve Biggins, Carl Griffiths, Ian Stevens, John Mc.Ginley, Grant Holt. Strikers that actually scored goals. Any others ?

I always had a rather soft spot for Luke Rodgers. Fast, fiery and a downright pain in the bum for all defenders.

Remember Ian Atkins played upfront one season and scored 17 league goals.

In my lifetime the most natural goalscorers were McGinlay & Griffiths. Then for having a touch of class/quality in terms of their all round play I'd say Holt & Wayne Clare. And then for sheer excitement/raw talent I'd say Rodgers.

The classiest was Mcginley for me - really good all-round footballer. The best finisher was Griffiths but my favourite was Alf Wood - more a force of nature than a footballer.

I'm sure most of those mentioned would still have a chance of getting a game in the current team.

Watched him come off the bench for ROI vs Wales the other day. He certainly made a nuisance of himself and had a number of attempts on goal.

Griffiths and Rodgers were class. I loved Ian Stevens, and Nigel Jemson and Lee Steele were both prolific and players I liked. Of the more recent ones probably Collins ahead of Holt for me.

After swapping Atkins for brown,I wasnt all that fussed with it, but watching browny play, what a joy it was, a class act, and quick as you like, until some lump from Sheffield wed nobbled him!!!

John McGinley was a class act, great awareness and movement in the final third, but as my username suggests Alf was my favourite, mainly because of his effort and commitment!!! We have struggled lately for top strikers, Grant Holt and James Collins come to mind, very important for the younger generation of Town supporters to have players to remember in their later years.

He only had one season with us but I rated Colin McMenamin. Obviously Luke Rodgers, Grant Holt & James Collins are up there.

Was by no means the best but I did enjoy watching Dean Spink up front. Did have a couple of prolific seasons - especially the 1993/94 promotion season - and always seemed to really enjoy scoring. Remember him getting tangled up in the net in home match to Torquay celebrating a goal.
And enjoyed his partnership with Wayne Clarke - who was sheer class. Particularly remember him chipping the Hereford keeper from near the halfway line at Edgar Street one Boxing Day match & scoring a hat-trick against Birmingham at the Meadow & celebrating in front of the Brum fans who had been giving him massive stick as an ex-player
