Too corrupt even for that shower!
Shame he doesn't have any dirt on 'Cassandra' Blair, I reckon he'd soon be found a job elsewhere if so.

I diagree about it being a disgrace.
I am totally neutral about who is in power and broadly all parties seem to do the same thing right now.
However, Labour continued to harp on about Sleaze and the like in the run up to them getting into power and this was a major part of their campaign. However, they seem to forget that, by and large, each party is as corrupt as the others and that they were not exactly whiter than white themselves.
Its about as ridiculous as John major carping on about "Back to basics" at the same time as knobbing Edwina Currie!!

Bullying Civil Servants into issuing a work visa for the Fillipino (and why do these people have to employ Fillipinos? - but that's another story) nanny of your former lover (by whom you had a love child) isn't corrupt (much) or an abuse of ministerial power. Have we sunk so low that this is acceptable behaviour for a member of Her Majesty's government . Being the Home Secretary responsible for proposing all free subjects of the crown carry compulsory ID, whilst proposing that 14 million third worlders enter the country in the next 50 years is reason enough for the barsteward to be hung for treason. I modifyed this due to an offensive statement (BillBoBiggins)f**king hell!

Once more a case of a politician not being sacked by a political party but by the tabloid media scum who seem to hold the power in this country.

I think the whole episode is just another example of this country being run by the Daily Mail and not the elected government of the day. I take the point that by and large all the major parties are guilty of the same behaviour at times but i also happen to think we have lost a good and decent Home Secretary who's probably guilty of next to sod all in reality.
Aahhh well... lets look ahead to some interesting times with his successor, now there's a man full of humility and grace.

Yeah called them tabloid scum but forgot to add The Mail into that. IMHO the sh***est paper of them all. Royal obsessed Thatcher loving scum. It is worse than the tabs because at least no-one with any modicum of sense believes anything in the Star/Sun/Mirror etc some people actually believe what is written in The Mail

I blame anyone that buys a daily newspaper myself, I just won't do it these days!

I'm very dissapointed if this is the case.
Mountain out of a molehill as usual.
I wish Mr Blunkett all the best in the future of his career

I am also totally neutral politically Not really. As a big lefty, i am sad to see DB resign, he is a good man, who like so many others, has fallen foul of human nature. Personally, I have no problem at all with his private life, and regardless of what many peole will claim, everyone is entitled to a private life. None of us know where we will find love and belonging. That applies equally to all political parties. The proviso being of coarse, that you do nothing to jeopardise the national interest, which he hasnt. However, much as i admire the man and trust his integrity, there is a doubt about how much he really knew about the visa application being speeded up, to me it does sound a bit dodgy, and will to a lot of people, and this will call into doubt his integrity in the eyes of the public. Conclusion: He was right to resign, and resigned for the right reasons. Honourable man doing the honourable thing. PS. I buy the Daily Mail, it lasts longer than normal toilet paper.

Totally agree SNFC, the Labour Party wanted anyone out for the slightest thing when in opposition, now the keep coming out with the line "we're only human".

Nope apparantly, Labour only demanded Conservative MPs resign in Sleaze rows, because the Conservative MPs had said they would be tough on sleaze. Labour on the other hand apparantly never said they would be tough on sleaze, only tough on sleaze perpetrated by the proponents of anti-sleave. Therefore, they are free to carry out sleaze as they see fit. Or so the argument goes.......

At least Blunkett hasn't got himself locked up, unlike certain prominent members of the last Government.

Blunkett courted the Daily Mail assiduously for four years. He gave them stories and played to their agenda. If you lie down with dogs, you catch fleas.
