Comment from a reader about these two - but could apply just as well to Boris! A fish rots from its head.

foden apparantly in a long relationship and has a 2 year old awkward ! Having 3 kids with his girlfriend and then another with a young lady hasn't been too much of a problem for Kyle Walker. www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-8418105/Kyle-Walkers-ex-Annie-Kilner-admits-day-filled-pain-learning-cheated.htmlHe can always buy his way back into Miss Kilner's affections. www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/kyle-walker-agrees-marry-annie-22222058Plus Foden and Greenwood can see that Walker effectively got away with breaches of lockdown and was still in the England team against Iceland (until he was sent off). A Club fine hardly scratches the surface of these guys bank accounts, and apologies are easy to make. 'On 5 April 2020, it was reported that Walker had broken national lockdown rules and invited two sex workers to his home amid the global coronavirus pandemic. On 7 May 2020, it was again reported that he'd broken lockdown rules by travelling to Sheffield to give a present to his sister and hugging her. He later admitted that he also visited his parents to pick up food. He later tweeted that he felt him and his family were being harassed and that the reports were affecting the mental health of his whole family'. Wiki.

It’s not really a punishment for their behaviour, but the quarantine rules demand they now stay apart as they left the bubble (like Joffra Archer). They could have gone to a local McDonalds and had a burger and they would still be flying home

The pair have been described as "boys", who have been "naive"...they are not boys, they are adults who need to quickly grow up and stop acting like idiots.

They've been stupid and displayed a lack of professionalism and consideration for their teammates and coaches. However, they are still young and have a lot of maturing to do - the amount of money they earn doesn't alter that. Their stupid actions don't warrant the more extreme reactions of some.
I'd leave them out of England consideration for the next few matches and move on.

People on here talk like they’ve never made mistakes before. Two young lads who are still learning and are living lives none of us could ever comprehend. The fame and money doesn’t stop a young lad being naive and stupid at times. If this is the biggest mistake they make in their careers then I’d say they’ve done pretty well. Not condoning their behaviour during the times we live in but it’s hardly the deal it’s being made out to be.

Sadly though these young lads are abroad and representing their country. It isn’t quite the same as being young and out on a Saturday night at home.

The situation in and around Manchester is well known . People are being asked to basically take every precaution to prevent the spread of this terrible virus . They must know this . They must also be aware that they are expected to be role models . They aren’t kids anymore , they are operating in a mature professional setting . No excuses whatsoever . If nothing else surely Foden has a responsibility toward his family . An absolute pair of f.ckwits . I hope their clubs and Southgate come down on them hard..

They will be gutted to miss out on playing after earning their first full caps. Silly sausages the pair of them. Hopefully lesson learned, onwards and upwards.

When I was their age I was a machine gun marksman, and firing an anti tank gun for a living. Fair enough, but would you say you were fully mature at that age? Did you never do anything remotely irresponsible from that age onwards? I know I did. You weren't under public scrutiny - it's a different sort of pressure but not easy to cope with for every 18 year old. I'm not excusing their behaviour but I don't think it warrants the extreme condemnation some are dishing out. A lot of people have done far worse when representing their country - and I'm not just referring to 18-20 year old sportsmen. Perhaps you never put a foot wrong but I think you'd be the exception.

Really? When I was their age I was a machine gun marksman, and firing an anti tank gun for a living. You weren't under public scrutiny I was under the scrutiny of a sergeant with no sense of humour, and that was worse! I'll admit we were in the same pay league, I was on £5.00 a wick when I was fully trained, (Less any deemed equipment damages). There were some perks, I got a free haircut. If you'd seen my mop, you'd realise the barber DID have a sense of humour.

These two lads were very lucky they did not come into contact with the rest of the England squad after the breach of the rules. That could have meant cancellation of the Denmark game and the whole squad having to self- isolate for two weeks. I don't expect footballers to be role models but I don't expect them to be complete idiots either. If they want an example of how to conduct themselves properly they should look no further than another young player Marcus Rashford.

I was also in the military at 18, but there’s a difference between living in barracks under strict discipline and being a millionaire sportsman who, because of having a rare talent, is indulged at all times.
I was no saint and wonder how I would have behaved in different circumstances.
A memorable escapade with a couple of mates was getting into the palace of the Sheikh of Sharjah in an attempt to locate his harem. Without success, unfortunately.

I too was in the military at 18. If we were ordered/told to do something we did it.
If not we were punished where it hurt most. The top young sports people of today have
backroom staff advising them on things like this, so no excuses for them please. Just
because they are young doesn't detract from the fact that they have let down the manager,
their team mates, backroom staff, England supporters, the Icelandic people, their clubs,
their families et al. The mind boggles as to what the reaction of fans would have been if
the next England match or two had been called off !!

I actually think Gareth Southgate was making a good point when he referred to them as boys. These kids need an experienced international to supervise them on trips abroad at the beginning of their careers. Easier said than done when you look at the record of some of the more experienced pros. What a difference when you think back to the excellent role models we had in the world cup squad of 66.
