Gary Peters sets his alarm for 5.15 each morning and commutes from Stockport to Shrewsbury. He is usually behind his desk at 7a.m. and often does not get back home until after 10p.m. Whatever else people might say about the man I think this does suggest a certain level of commitment to the club!

Long hours, hard work and commitment alone will not make him a good manager being perfectly honest - others have done that and failed.
But this is obviously a breath of fresh air after what we have had the last four or so years.
And I remain totally convinced the guys beliefs, ethos, man management and outstanding ability to see and get the best out of what he has, will see him succeed.

What it does do though is give him the right to expect it from the players. Absolutely McKie. Gone are the days of the manager getting his players in for extra training on a Sunday then not arsing to turn up themelves as happened with the last two incumbrants. Both struggled to gain the respect of the playing staff and ultimately failed. It is little wonder with such things going on. I have yet to hear of a player say anything but positive things about GP, and believe me, I heard plenty of otherwise with messrs Quinn and Ratcliffe.

I'd still like him to have a contract - I do not see what he is trying to achieve by not signing it when he has said that he wants to be here longer than the end of the season.

If he fails and we go down, we don't have to pay off to get rid of the bloke who took us down. I am certain he will stay on. Contracts mean very little really.

I'd certainly hope that the fans and players commitment over the Xmas period will result both in a substantial amount of points and Peters signing a contract.
