Ricky had Alzheimer’s for the last few years, and has died today
well remembered by all of us who saw him play, and as a landlord at the Apprentice and Red Lion Bomere Heath
RIP

Rest in peace Ricky. Great servant to STFC and someone that I had the pleasure of playing against after he left the pro game.

RIP Ricky. He scored one of my favourite goals at the Gay Meadow. A volley at the Station End. Can't remember who Town were playing.

That side from the early 70's is my all time favourite Town Team.
And Ricky was an integral part of it. Very combative midfield player.

Desperately sad news. Fantastic player for Shrewsbury. He leaves so many memories for those of us who were privileged enough to see him play.

A 100% player for town in an era when so many players retired but stayed in the town and became pub landlords. The London Apprentice was never the same after he left and he made a great success of the Red Lion at Bomere Heath. RIP.

In he sixties they used to announce the player of the season at the end of the last home game. One season, Ricky was sent off in the last game, then ironically was awarded player of the season on the pitch after the game.

Sad news - such a good player. I remember in particular one brilliant long range goal from him when we beat Luton (who were top of the Third division then) 5-1 (probably around 1970). We had so many good Scottish players in the 60s and 70s, people like Ricky, George Boardman and of course Paul Maguire (one of my all-time favourite players).
