The marketing literature from this company screamed problems. The set-up where the intermediary rather than the product designer is regulated means that compsensation can only come about because of a claim of mis-selling rather than for the design features of the product. It could be a long hard struggle for people to get their money.

It could be a long hard struggle for people to get their money. Which is not the way it was put over as being suitable for ordinary people when West Ham unveiled the sleeve design. I appreciate the pension freedoms, but there have been a lot of people with a wad of cash ready to be targeted with slick advertising like this. As for a long hard struggle, if they still have any money left anywhere else - followed the don't put all your eggs in one basket rule - best take the hit and move on, life's too short for chasing rainbows.

13th July, 2018: "Basset & Gold is a brand name of B&G Finance Ltd which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA)." 1st April, 2020: "The Company which is not regulated by the FCA, issued bonds which were sold to retail consumers... ...The company also used to claim to offer FSCS protection, on the basis that one of its companies, B&G Finance Limited, was regulated by the FCA, and therefore investors were covered for “misselling”." Oh dear. Something 'a bit dodgy' here, methinks...
