Just to lighten the tone and with a bit of time on our hands does anyone fancy themselves as a budding connoisseur of the kitchen? Do you have a signature dish to wow your friends and family? I like to cook a nice aromatic dish (any meat or veg) from scratch with home made onion bhajis with a mint and mango yoghurt dip, or a pork, garlic, onion, meatloaf with some homemade bread (bread machine as I'm not that good).

Curry, it's for dinner tonight. Gently fried onion, lot's of sweet potatoes, chick peas, frozen beans from last year's harvest, tinned chopped tomatoes, nice and hot. I got into this from commenting that I could do it better than the takeaway we were eating many years ago.

I made some naan bread a few weeks back and was impressed how close it resembled the 'real' ones and not those from the shops which simply dont trick was to use my cast iron griddle and have it as hot as I possibly could get it on the hob no oil etc, simply stick in on it, let it almost burn and then turn it over, minutes once the dough was ready

i tend to enjoy to bake more than cooking a whole meal( i do as it is only fair that my wife and i take turns) i love Jap cakes These jap Cakes a re a little known bakery favourite that have been around for at least 50 years. Made from a piped almond meringue - similar to a macaron - smothered in a rich coffee butter-cream and rolled in toasted chopped almonds. Decorated with a chocolate coffee bean.
Bara brith a welsh fruit cake. eccles cake, my wife likes my christmas cake but as the girls dont eat it ( my waistlie suffers) the girls faviourite shrewsbury biscuits which are very easy to make.

I've tried a few times to make naan bread but failed miserably. When it comes to baking I never seem to have the ingredients and it puts me off as not brave enough to wing it.
