Out of interest has anyone had any notifications from the Track and Trace app?
I’ve had it on my phone since it launched, and aside from a few false warnings in the first week nothing since? I’m out and about a fair bit and find it hard to believe I’d not been in contact with someone with Covid especially in the December and January period when cases were high

some good news www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-56267510A large rise in Covid vaccine supplies means more jabs should be delivered than ever before from next week, Wales' chief pharmacist has said. Andrew Evans has revealed that more than 30,000 doses a day could be administered across the country. Figures suggest one million people are likely to have had at least a first vaccine dose within the coming days. A total of 942,017 people in Wales have been given a first jab, while 124,781 have now been given the full course. The four UK nations are aiming to vaccinate all adults by the end of July. Ramping up of deliveries to Wales follows a slowdown during the past fortnight, largely caused by an planned reduction in the Oxford-AstraZeneca supply. Mr Evans, the Welsh government's chief pharmaceutical officer, said supply increases would allow Wales to "continue to lead" other UK nations on vaccine roll out, with teams focused on "keeping it that way".

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-56281824"Covid was "completely underestimated" and not enough was done to prepare for a pandemic in the UK, one of Wales' most senior doctors has said. Prof Sir Mansel Aylward, ex-chairman of Public Health Wales, said he was "to blame as much as anyone". Sir Mansel has spoken of struggling for months with physical and mental health issues after testing positive. He also spoke about Covid's impact on his community in Merthyr Tydfil - one of the worst-hit areas in Wales." Although he said the NHS " did as well as it could" in dealing with the pandemic's effects, Sir Mansel claimed governments and health organisations failed to appreciate how serious Covid was in the early stages. He also said there was a failure to properly plan for the risk of a global pandemic over a number of years. "The big lesson that has to be learnt is that the virus itself and its effect was completely underestimated," he said.

i was rather suprised by this as asthma can be so debilitating i assumed all asthmatics would be in 18 to 60 chorot with health problems.
bbc wales
"People with asthma who are eligible for a coronavirus vaccine are being refused it by some GPs who are not following government guidance, the BBC has found.
An NHS England letter sent to GPs in mid-February says people who have "ever had an emergency asthma admission" to hospital fall into priority group six, which is currently being vaccinated.
But some patients are being told a hospital admission within the past 12 months is required.
GPs say they look at various factors.
These include age and ethnicity, as well as some degree of clinical judgement, the Royal College of GPs said."

germany has the oxford vaccine but many refuse to have it , so why dont they send it to italy rather than blocking hte vaccine to australia www.aljazeera.com/news/2021/3/4/eu-italy-stop-astrazeneca-vaccine-exports-to-australia"Australia said it had asked for a review after its shipment of a quarter of a million AstraZeneca vaccines was blocked from leaving the European Union in the bloc’s first use of an export control system designed to ensure big pharma companies would respect their contracts. Italy’s order blocking the dispatch of 250,000 doses was accepted by the European Commission, which has fiercely criticised the Anglo-Swedish company this year for supplying just a fraction of the vaccine doses it had promised." The World Health Organization (WHO) in January said the EU export vetting scheme was part of a “very worrying trend” that could jeopardise global supply chains for vaccines. The EU is one of the world’s biggest vaccine producers. The scheme started on January 30 and will remain in place at least the end of March. "The EU has vaccinated only 8 percent of its population compared with more than 30 percent, for example, in the United Kingdom. Australia, which closed its borders a year ago and has a negligible number of COVID-19 cases, is in the very early stages of its vaccination drive."

Wondered if the German anglophobia would kick in due to the initialt attitude of the German Leaders medical regime. I just hope the majority see it as a way out of the pandemic. Makes you think they should just receive the ‘chosen’ vaccine and be told which one theve had afterwards. Could cost 1000’s of lives if the world starts squabbling over vaccines.

germany has the oxford vaccine but many refuse to have it , so why dont they send it to italy rather than blocking hte vaccine to australia Because I suspect there are many of us here who would take it. We've just got to get the powers that be to take the decision to start vaccinating a wider section of the population to do so. That's mentioned in this article I come across this morning, I don't agree with everything in it but I do think there is some truth in this... How the EU humiliated itself
And here is the link to the story he refers to... German states call for unused AstraZeneca vaccine to be given to younger people
Looking to the number of vaccinations lying about and the population of Germany, I'm sure they would be enough people willing to take it. They just need to start making it available to those down the tiers to do so (better than just seeing them left on the shelf).

I do think Brexit has played its part when looking to the EU and the AstraZeneca vaccine and you really would expect better, as it does come across as a bit childish. And it's now causing us problems as a result.

unless they have health issues that exempt them i dont understand parents refusing to have there children wear masks and i find it even stranger that some parents are refusing to have there children get tested twice a week to reduce infections in schools. www.plymouthherald.co.uk/news/plymouth-news/parents-refusing-covid-19-school-5078535"it comes after some Plymouth parents branded others 'selfish' for saying their children will not wear the required face-coverings to school when they reopen next week Secondary school teachers and college lecturers say parents are refusing to give permission for their children to be tested for Covid-19 at school, ahead of pupils returning to schools in England from Monday, March 8. As part of the government's roadmap out of the pandemic, all pupils in England can return to schools and colleges from next week. Students in secondary schools are advised to wear face-coverings when indoors, including in classrooms, unless 2m social-distancing is possible or they are medically exempt."

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/mar/07/labour-must-not-let-boris-johnson-emerge-as-covid-heroMore than 120,000 people have died from the coronavirus in the UK, twice the death toll of the blitz, and government advisers are on the record saying that some of those fatalities were avoidable. The government has got a thoroughly deserved name for incompetence and its leader an absolutely merited reputation for slow and bad decision-making in handling several critical aspects of the crisis. In the past few days, various things have happened that wouldn’t normally endear any government to the electorate. The chancellor has produced a budget which, when stripped of all the marketing, is the harbinger of both a spending squeeze and higher taxes across the board. Health workers are insulted and infuriated that ministers want to give them a miserly 1% increase – a cut after inflation – to their salaries. Taxpayers are forking out £340,000 plus legal costs to avoid a public airing at an employment tribunal of the accusations of bullying against Priti Patel. The aroma of cronyism and pork-barrelling radiated by this government grows more pungent. Then there’s the baleful economic consequences of Brexit and the destabilisation it is causing to the brittle politics of Northern Ireland. How does a government become more popular in these circumstances? Pollsters report that the only topic really animating their focus groups is the vaccination programme and how impressive it has been. This has furnished the Tories with a feelgood story about the epidemic which they can tell the electorate.
