I'm not all that fussed where the quarantine is, but we had people wandering through airports, sometimes unchalleged, then getting on public transport and then quarantining at home. You’d imagine that arrivals from the high risk countries are kept separate from all others and strict instructions on how they travel and who the meet in place. remember the return of UK citizens from China early on with coaches straight to isolation? Surely we’re not just relying on good will to do the right thing. 'Disgrace!' No border virus checks as South Africa traveller goes unchallenged - EXCLUSIVE

oh yeah labour did thats standard policy to disagree with anything and everything no one did on here, i had a quick look, back on feb 4th stafford shrew was posting pictures of postmen Regarding Labour, no they don't agree with everything, in fact I've seen plenty of criticism aimed in their direction for refusing to challenge and blindly following the gov't, particularly when it comes to voting through the policies/restrictions. I'm not a fan of Starmer but I almost feel sorry for him as he can't win, if he challenges the gov't he gets accusations of 'standard Labour, just disagreeing', if he doesn't challenge then he gets criticised as being weak and if he highlights a failure then he is accused of 'captain hindsight'. But anyway, the point still stands, there were plenty of people questioning why the government did not implement their quarantine policy faster. And yes I am talking beyond B&A

didn’t get the slightest of a mention on here a month back when it was announced Annoyed that I had to waste valuable time, but around the same time as the postman picture I said "Until he (Nadhim Zahawi) appeared on the "Today" programme, trotting out all the old lines about the delay in bringing in quarantine. I don't think he believed what he was saying himself - they should have given bringing in quaratine hotels to him, I think he would have fixed it up a lot quicker". One disaster after another for the EU on its vaccine rollout. Slovakia getting the "non EU-approved" Russian vaccine, two other countries are fed up with the rollout (or lack of it) and are now working with Israel.
Absolute mess.

Looking at the mess the EU have made of the rollout is there anyone left who still thinks Brexit was a bad idea?

Depends, do you want Great Britain to be out of lockdown, but unable to travel to Europe because they won't be? Or do you think that in this case our stroppy British ways, exhibited throughout our membership, would have gee-ed them up a bit and got us all out of lockdown?

We'd have been stuck and probably only on about 3,000,000 vaccines. Instead we're touching 21,000,000 and increasing the 2nd dose count as we go.

If we had been still been in the EU, we would still have had the same people, with the same mindset to get things done, but would have also inspired the rest of the EU. Now we are heading towards a summer of good old UK seaside holidays, because France and Spain are not going to be out of lockdown.
Being a member of something doesn't mean you just have to accept what the appointed leaders of that organisation say. This EU leader cock-up could have enabled us to change things within the EU for the better. As we now see with America, our "special relationship" is all their side. For me, it's always best to be in the organisation, but influencing it, rather than having to stand on the sidelines deriding their actions.

I'll respectfully disagree, we're in a far, far better place going our own way. If we have to holiday in the UK who really cares? I'd rather my family and friends vaccinated and safe.

If cases remain high and take up of the vaccine in Europe and elsewhere in the World particularly developing countries is low, the risk of new outbreaks and new strains will go on for a long time and restrictions in the UK will have remain too
The roll out of vaccines across the world over the next 6 months is key to cracking Covid. If we don’t the implications are very serious
It’s similar to the issues emerging around climate change - western countries can’t just look after themselves and leave poorer nations to take the impact or the impact on migration and health will be massive, and make Covid look like a minor issue
World Health Organisation really need to play a prominent role around both issues

I have never really understood this apparent obsession with foreign travel, especially when you genuinely look at what we possess in this country as regards lovely places to visit and stay at.

To experience different climates, to see family, to see different ways of living and cultures, to see new sights... there’s a multitude of reasons, however at the moment foreign holidays should be bottom of everybody’s priorities.

I have never really understood this apparent obsession with foreign travel, especially when you genuinely look at what we possess in this country as regards lovely places to visit and stay at. There's nothing stopping you from doing both. In recent years I've done a number of breaks in various corners of this country and had some great times, however going abroad opens your eyes to so much. But anyway, it's a bit ironic that last year some people were worried about missing out on Spain and were shouted down with 'its only a holiday', now some of those people shouting them down are saying 'well it's no good being smug about how good things are in the UK, if things don't improve you'll miss out on a holiday to Spain' But being a cynical thing, i suspect that the major tourist resorts will find a way to open up and people will flock there. I'm planning a few breaks in this country in the summer and then possibly get abroad in the last quarter of the year. Obviously no guarantees but I certainly wouldnt expect it to be worse than last summer where I got away a few times in this country

I must confess that my passport expired about 15 years ago, but I certainly enjoyed my jaunts in Europe, and once to Zimbabwe (if you ever get the chance, Victoria Falls are a "must-see"), but I do agree that the Cotswolds and the Yorkshire Dales are glorious too👍

Scotland every year for the last umpteen but also foreign travel which was postponed last year. Rebooked but will postpone again to next year. Far too risky at present. Travel rejuvenates the body and soul.

That would be a great shame considering freedom of travel throughout much of Europe has already been denied to us.

this just highlight why evrone should be quarantined at hotels www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9315813/Coronavirus-Oxford-vaccine-professor-says-UK-ditch-obsession-Covid-variants.html"The Brazilian Covid variant has been found in 15 countries that are not banned for international travel by the UK's red list.UK residents must quarantine in a hotel for at least ten days after returning from 33 countries where variants of concern are known to exist. But the Brazilian variant — known as P.1 — has also been found in the US, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, Mexico, India, Italy and South Korea, none of which are on Britain's 'red list'."

Nor me. I have never possessed a passport. Well exactly. Abroad's a great place if you like hot weather and lying on a beach for a fortmight but for beautiful countryside, fascinating history, great food and drink and outdoor leisure activities there's no better country in the world than the UK.
