Is it worth emailing Brian re this? There'll have to be some option as tickets bought online on Saturday will not arrive by post in Suffolk before I have to leave on Tuesday. Assume tickets not sent or collected can be picked up at Anfield but more faff and a need to be there even earlier

I expect Liverpool didn't want their brand tarnished by being turned over by a league one side live on tv. I also expect Brian negotiated a decent fee from Liverpool to compensate both for the lost tv revenue but also to compensate for the lack of exposure.

Is it worth emailing Brian re this? For what outcome? To ask if there could be a window for collections both at Shrewsbury and Liverpool. Normally at the bottom of the ticket info they confirm that uncollected tickets will be taken to the away ground but I can’t see it here.

Hopefully the players will read this thread, see the anger and ensure they really put Liverpool to the sword on the pitch where it matters and take all the headlines the next day and causing maximum embarrassment to Liverpool. Even if it is the under 23s that we beat, the history books will state that we beat Liverpool the club world champions. i think that is why Liverpool don't want the game live on Tv. It wouldn't look good to their world wide audience. Regardless of it being the kids or not.. It's going out live overseas as are all the replays so their world wide audience will still be watching.

This whole debate about this game being on TV is starting to hack me off! Did TV show our replays against Wolves or West Ham live? No? Then why should they show Liverpool's U23's against us! Klopp said clearly no first team players will be there and he won't be there, so why should live TV be there! We already knew the Beeb was showing Oxford v Newcastle, so the next obvious TV choice is Tottenham v Southampton, which BT has chose! I know it is going to effect the amount of money Town will make, but at least Liverpool are not charging away fans €55 for a ticket which another team did in a 3rd round replay, even though the away team was from the Premiership!

But the thing is that there has been a debate between the clubs because BT did want to show it. Hence the delays.

Lower prices might mean less money for STFC, but as a matchgoing fan I’m delighted it’s only £15. The club will be fine.

Shame the club will miss on a really good chunk of money and disappointing won't be able to watch live somewhere...But you never know, there's always the 5th round.

Have emailed Brian and received an immediate response back much to my surprise given the day he has had. There will be a separate collection point at the Meadow for pre ordered tickets probably in reception.

I have a bit of a crackpot theory about the replay. As we know football is a confidence game and one loss can easily turn into a bad run. I believe the real reason they are fielding the under 23 team , so as not to expose any first team players to the danger of a confidence sapping defeat by a lower league club . I am not saying Shrewsbury will win but you can imagine the damage that could do to confidence of their players , with other Premiership clubs believing that they could also beat them . I know it's a bit mad but whichever way you look at Liverpool are clearly upset that the match is going to a replay from a match on paper they should have won at a canter

What’s the chances of this heading for general sale do we think? Can’t believe it’s the same day as the game.

So we have missed on TV money because...well, I'm not entirely sure why. Considering their first team players will be already away on their winter break its not as if they save a day of anything. Don't come across well in this at all Liverpool.
Be interesting if the club can shed any light on the negotiations, why Liverpool are so keen to have in on the Tuesday considering they have made it clear already they have no intention of fielding their first team.

I guess Liverpool charging half price doesn't quite fit in with your mindset, does it!

Surely the ticket sales could have been arranged that general sale starts before match day. That’s just ridiculous. 3 of us as season ticket holders but looking at taking one more person who hasn’t any loyalty points but got to wait until Tuesday so we can sit together. I expected to wait but not until the match day.

Years ago, when I read, "I Am The Secret Footballer", he said only 23% of a premier league club's income was from gate money. So he said how little an FA Cup replay on a cold January night at Rochdale appealed to premiership clubs. The income from gate money is probably even less now.

yeah, £16-£22, so £1 in a lot of cases earlier in the thread you were banging on about why have they set the prices so low liverpool normally charge £3 to watch their under 23s town charged about the same earlier in the season v Man City the club you keep defending stink, always have , always will
