I don’t think I’m the only one in the past few weeks to have noticed that the atmosphere on this board is becoming completely and utterly toxic. In the past this board has been a great source of discussion, transfer rumours and contained some great OT subjects where people were respectful even when things got a bit heated. What’s really winding me up now is that this weekend is a massive moment which, for our club, (and the Bristol City game beforehand) should be celebrated and be something that brings us all together. We should all be united as fans but frankly people are using it to bring up personal vendettas, sneer and use it to score cheap points against fellow users. Can we not all in the next few days all come together and enjoy Sunday together and put everything all to one side? We are all one club, Shrewsbury FC and we should all enjoy the highs and commiserate the lows together. Let’s enjoy this Sunday together. COYB!

Agreed but there are still some valued posters who are talking sense (well apart from JT who is valued but sense???). I’m more picky about what and who I read to be honest. I see some names and know it will be a good post, I see others and just have quick look and think oh here we go again and there are some I just don’t bother with.
As you say this board has a lot going for it and I for one would hate to lose the really good posters.

Whatever happened to the lovely Katy Hopkins of Apprentice fame. I often think of her when I read some of the posts from members stirring it just to be noticed.

Don't worry ssshrew I'm going nowhere!!! I'm thinking of moving to canada might be for the best Pilch, you seem to cause the most grief, sniping at other users, maybe it's time to hang up your keyboard? i don't post much but read daily and you are becoming more and more antagonistic, or so it seems to an outsider anyway.

Sadly there are some on here whose sole purpose appears to be to provoke argument and conflict, particularly when there isn't any of this in current discussions. Whether that be by taking threads off topic, or by unnecessarily bumping old threads.

Don't worry ssshrew I'm going nowhere!!! I'm thinking of moving to canada You will have to give up your claim to the throne and all the nobility being a board moderator gives you. Although I suppose these days you could still do it from there and would hardly ever hear of any crowd antics, just the good bits.

I've been on this board for almost 11 years now (gulp) and can't say I find it much different to how I've always known it. There have always been some who are more antagonistic than others (perhaps I'm one, not for me to say) and little arguments break out now and again. That'll happen - people have strong opinions sometimes and lord knows there have been plenty of topics to agitate most of us. And of course some people just need to be told. We shouldn't forget that written words are often misinterpreted. You can't always convey the tone in which you're writing in the way that you could if you were speaking. A good rule of thumb, that I hope I abide by, is that you should only write what you'd say face to face. This is not a bad place.

As an observer and occasional poster on this board for about a year, tend to agree with the OP.
The good news is that it should be easily fixable (via moderator control, or tweaking the source code) Daily posts limited to e.g. 3 per individual. Max 2 'contributions' per thread.
'Players' to consider a little more and choose their 'passes' more carefully. Spraying all over the place with little to no self-control always leads to aggro off the pitch (any context you like), always leads to dire results on it.
Limiting the number of 'contacts' per thread should reduce the number of 'pointless tackles', 'side swipes', 'nothing passes', 'boost my own stat profile -nothing passes' and general 'arm-waving-handbags' moments that too many 'players' indulge in, and at the same time increase the general forward momentum of this (Div 1 standard but with aspirations) virtual team.......which of course also always increases 'crowd participation'
But surely.......we already know this??? Its basically just what Shaun Whalley does on the pitch !
Be more like Shaun.
Get it sorted. Stop piddling about. Attack in the general direction of the opponents goal.
(and if nothing else, this will, over the course of, say, 5 years, improve your rating from 'who?' to 'meh' to 'not much use' to 'OK in short doses' to 'useful' to 'indispensable and must play every game otherwise its just like watching paint dry' )

I blame that t**t Johnson . He’s the cause of all the trouble , him and that w****r Gove. If it wasn’t for him Shrewsbury would be playing in Europe but oh no , he’s ****ed it up.......again . If we have to rely on Dr Fox to sort us out we are well and truly up s**te creek .
I can’t wait until Nandy or Starmer get involved …..... on second thoughts perhaps not .
We’re doomed , well and truly doomed . It’s still Johnson’s fault mind , the blonde 👱♀️ t**t .

I blame. Mr Pilch, In the last 12 months he's foolishly suggested after Charlton that man of the match Arnold was no good, he made stupid suggestions that top scorer Fejiri wasn't up to our standard, bizarrely he thought (P)Ricketts would keep us up and improve the side, and now he thinks some of our fans should get behind the side instead of acting like crazed animals. I think we should take some cheap shots at him at every opportunity and blame him for everything that goes wrong, admittedly he is spending far to long on this board at the moment but I think its because he has nothing better to do at the moment. ;-)

I must admit that I'm at a total loss to understand why Pilch has 'liked' a post which suggests that daily posts be limited to 3 and the maximum contributions per thread to 2.
Not only is this a ridiculous suggestion which would severely inhibit the operation of the Board, but in Pilch's case totally unworkable. He'd be utterly lost.
I'm a regular poster, but would never 'like' a post such as the one from randomtictacs.

I don't think this board is particularly bad compared to some of the caustic moments of its past.
I am bored of Pilch playing slap and tickle with his Liverpool mates but other than that it is pretty standard fayre.

And now this thread descends into one or two selectively sniping again like every thread on here at the moment. Can we all just stop and agree that we are all looking forward to Sunday and hopefully celebrate as a group/board? Just for a few days pop everything to one side? Jesus I didn’t think it was so hard for some people.

Life's way too short to slag people off, or to take any notice of anyone slagging you off.
It's a message board, all views are welcome but not always agreed with. Like the pubs used to be.

Maybe Pilch would agree to a sponsored silence for a certain period with the proceeds going to Hope House and following that period of silence we could all discuss on this board whether or not it has been a worthwhile exercise. I am sure we could arrange a collection point on the gate for the Liverpool match.

I can understand why someone wouldn't want to do so, or perhaps why they should have to, but please remember that there is an option on B&A to ignore specific users posts. Unfortunately it doesn't stop that person from being able to reply to your posts but it does mean the replies are not automatically shown to you and you get no notification that they have replied to you. Last resort of course but it is an option. Better that than having to deal with content or opinion you might not have any time for...👍

I left school over 40 years ago, but when I come back and read this board, it seems like I’ve returned, on what seems like more and more occasions due to the childish behaviour I’m witnessing. Too many people, in this day and age, think they are invisible, when hiding behind a keyboard and can post whatever abuse they want. They aren’t and would do well to remember that.
