Agreed 4 years ago he was scoring for fun but he’s still only 28 and maybe the 3m price tag 12 months ago has been a heavy burden. Personally I’d quite like to see him in a town shirt.

Can't help but feel we'd be short-changed in any Norbs/Grigg deal.
There's a reason why Sunderland want Norburn. The same reason as to why we ought retain him.
No need to sell him IMO.

But we've got a top class striker in Cummings----- he needs to sort himself out and get fit.watched him when hibernian played town in pre season friendly a few years ago,and he was very good,so potential is there.i say no more

I can't see Griggs' wage demands fitting into our wage structure/budget or him being prepared to take a big wage cut to do so. The only way this could work is if Sunderland continue to pay a chunk of his wages after the transfer.

He will have interest elsewhere from clubs better placed to meet his wage demands. Griggs might be prepared to take a big wage cut if Sunderland are prepared to pay him a very large lump sum just to get him off the books. It would have to be a pretty substantial sum though. This seems to be a bit like the Ched Evans situation at Sheffield United before they offloaded him to Fleetwood, where Evans was reportedly paid £624,000 to leave. www.thesun.co.uk/sport/9697975/ched-evans-624k-sheffield-united/Depends on how much Sunderland want Norburn!

I get the feeling Ricketts doesn’t like his playful personality. Seems quite a stubborn, strict manager who doesn’t really have time for a player like Cummings. Only my opinion of course but I feel that’s why he’s not in the team rather then any fitness issue despite it being Ricketts who signed him. Cummings could be completely wasted here, he’s got the potential to be our most regular goal scorer for years but he’s being left out pretty much every week. Could be another player who leaves and scores for fun elsewhere.

Yes,I know he would cost to much, but to prove a point, hurst got him on free transfer, and we paid £250000 for norburn, who is the better player in everybody's opinion ??

We paid a fee to Chesterfield for Nolan, they got a portion of the Ipswich money as they had a sell on clause.

Wonder what impact the replay at Analfield will have on our transfer dealings this coming week? Players who may have wanted a move may wait till the summer as they can see playing at Liverpool as a in a once in a lifetime opportunity.

I dread to think how many agents will be spamming us now trying to get their out of favour overpaid clients a part of our windfall

Expect more interest in Laurent. If he put in performances like today more often we won’t be able to keep him. A little too inconsistent at the moment but hopefully that improves. Missed some pretty big chances for us so far this season, if he can work on that too he’ll be incredibly hard to keep hold of because he has the makings of a cracking player.

Brian Caldwell confirms Doncaster interest in Okenabirhie, he confirmed one other club is also interested. I think we’ll regret letting Okenabirhie go. He scored for us in a poor team & think we’ve played a system that doesn’t suit him/arguably any striker. Top scorer has 4/5 goals. Devante Cole signs for Donny.

There you are,get Jon nolan back instead of norburn,10 times the player norburn is Nolan is so over rated. There's something in that. He was great for us and we haven't found a player to replace what he did but he didn't really turn up in either of the Wembley games. Norburn is a different type of midfielder but isn't the sort to go missing when the crunch comes. Another Nolan-type player could do wonders for us but, if we were in another play off final, I'd rather have Norburn in my team.

Actually, Cummings has been quoted by the BBC admitting his fitness is the issue; "My fitness is not up to scratch," Cummings told BBC Sport after his heroic performance on Sunday. "I don't know if I have got a full 90 minutes in me, or even 70 minutes at the moment. "I thought the gaffer might have started me and pulled me off after an hour, but I feel that when I come on it is better for me to make an impact."

Sunderland have signed a midfielder from QPR for an undisclosed sum. You'd think that will end any more speculation of Norburn going there.
