Hi,
I know many boycott the checks trade but for those that don't do you think Ricketts should be looking to play a strong enough side to get us through while testing those we need too....Chance to go further and potentially get a cup final be nice for those fans who don't boycott?
Many going to the Vale game??

Hi, I Many going to the Vale game?? A cold Tuesday night Checkatrade, there won't be many. But winning anything and everything is good. A side aimed at winning will duly be put out, presumably our current second choice goalie, Coleman, will get a game, that's not a bad start to setting up a team that can win it.

Think Ricketts needs to rotate the squad for this one especially bearing in mind the number of games we now have this month, it’s not a pressing priority for us at the moment.

I would expect to see Jones and Morris in the starting eleven. Any other loanees expected back?

The sooner we are knocked out the better. Already getting cold-sweats at the thought of 10,000 scabs dusting off their jester hats for a trip to Wem-ber-ley.

Holloway and laurent looked shattered in the second half , for me the league is the priority especially as we are now only three points from a relegation place.if we play a full strength team who then run out of steam against charlton i will not be happy

Team -
Coleman Sears Beckles Kennedy Emmanuel Whalley (if fit) Loft, Norburn , Eisa Angol Fejiri
Subs - 1st year professionals/youth team.
Morris and Jones are both Cup tied.
I've included Norburn as he's not going to play at Stoke as he picked up a 2nd yellow card yesterday.

I generally respect your opinions but just grow up man, these are your fellow supporters you are talking about here... and for the record anyone having silly swipes at the ‘boycotters’ is also out of order, getting a little tired of these silly swipes from both sides of the coin now.

Just exactly how much did we make out of last year's Checkatrade? Lot's
And the effect on our league season? Zero to positive as it was used to get people back into the first team.
Some of these people who dislike the Checkatrade probably would not want us to play in the the Premier League if we ever got there because they object to it.

The Checkatrade is an ok competition now that it has been regionalised better. Gives manager and supporters the chance to see fringe players in a competitive match and the money aint bad either. Don't see much criticism these days from clubs.

Don't see much criticism these days from clubs. I’d rather see less money involved and no B teams in it to be honest, it has been regionalised better but I don’t agree with the B teams in it at all but whilst money gets offered in front of the club’s faces they’ll be happy to let them compete in it. I can understand why some boycott the competition but I wonder if it would have been more productive just to boycott the games against B teams instead of the whole competition itself, just getting a little fed up of this ‘scab’ thing... it’s childish!

i know opinion is divided about this tournament but we have so few reserve games for many fringe players this is the only game time they get, having said that with teams catching us up and only 3 points clear of a relegation place town need to concentrate on the league

I've included Norburn as he's not going to play at Stoke as he picked up a 2nd yellow card yesterday. But he will be needed for Charlton on Saturday meaning three games in a week for him. I hope the loans for Coleman and Emmanuel are not ended tomorrow or we may have to play a very inexperienced team or include more first team players than would be ideal. Christos Shelis could start in defence, James Rowland in midfield and John McAtee or Lifumpa Mwandwe up front.

Nothing against checkatrade. It's an opportunity to play the reserves. League has to come first for players and our first team have had a run of hard games, so be good for them to have a rest. I can't go as work Tuesdays.

Problem is that we have to play so many first team regulars or face a fine (competition rules).

I think the rules must have been relaxed this season. If you look at some of the teams selected in the earlier rounds we could have been fined for almost any of them if the rules used in previous seasons were being applied.

Competition rules. www.efl.com/clubs-and-competitions/checkatrade-trophy/about-checkatrade/rules--regulations/I think the four players referenced below was seven players in previous seasons? 7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches. Full Available Strength means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet.
7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who:
7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below);
7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture;
7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season;
7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or
7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy.This rule is also interesting as it implies that someone like Arthur Gnahoua and Ryan Barnett could be eligible depite being out on loan. 7.2 For the EFL Clubs, a registered player is one who:
7.2.1 would be registered and eligible to participate in a match in the League Competition for that EFL Club commencing at the same time and on the same date as the Match in accordance with the provisions of the Regulations; or
7.2.2 would be so eligible but for the fact that they are registered on a Long Term Loan at a club playing in the National League (National Division, North Division or South Division) but by the agreement of the Club, the National League club and the Player he has permission to return to play in this Competition.

I shall continue to refer to those attending Checkatrade Trophy fixtures as “scabs” on each and every possibly occasion on this forum until further notice. They are people who pay money to see Shrewsbury play: paying customers, potentially lifelong fans. In the early rounds many were people with young families who could afford a fiver for 90 minutes Tuesday evening football. Some are probably not even aware of the controversy. I am just glad that most fans can put up with it without resorting to rudeness.
