I usually go to games by public transport now, and make a day of it but this Sat is a nightmare. First bus from my house to the station is after the train as gone so need a lift. Then the trains are not running so two hours on a bus or a train via Chester and Wrexham, Then have to guess the time of the shuttle bus from town as its a 12,30 kick off and club never give times for unusual kick off times so probably get a taxi. Every one wants people to use public transport these days but god they make it hard work.

Yes, the club are very backward coming forward with info re transport when kick off times are different to normal. Have been left standing at the Shirehall many times - even at normal k/o times - because a so called 'big Club' are the opponents, and the bus either doesn't bother to call there, because it's full, or it came after it's allotted time and then i missed first 25 mins of the game or because I had to walk to the ground. We are not the only fans who have a gripe about the lack of info forthcoming.

When you get to Shrewsbury the number 27 bus from the bus station stops at the BP garage on Hereford Road - from there it’s 8-10 minutes walk which might be an option

Normal train is Crewe to Shrewsbury , but it just says £13.50 bus via all stations 1 hr 40 or train via Chester and Wrexham no changes but a ten min wait at each station.

I believe crewe-shrewsbury line is closed all weekend for engineering work.
would imagine there will also be some stoke fans using chester line so likely to be pretty busy and if I remember when getting train to/from Gobowen sometimes there isn't that many carriages.

Earlier on in the season I was forced on to the scenic route via Wrexham when the 9.20am had to turn back at Nantwich after the Wrenbury crossing gates failed. Even with changing trains at Chester it was remarkably painless, given the predicament. Obviously the trains might be busy and full of Stoke fans, but that would happen anyway. I would take this over the bus

I would take this over the bus “scenic” and “Wrexham” used in the same sentence? That must be a first. 😆
