So after 15 games we have amassed 37 pts (average 2.46 pts per game)...so we will need to meet the following averages to obtain:
50 pts - 0.42 pts per game (which should ensure L1 football next season!)
70 pts - 1.06 pts per game (possible play-off berth)
80 pts - 1.38 pts per game (certain play-offs, possible promotion)
90 pts - 1.79 pts per game (certain promotion, possible champions)
Under Hurst, we currently average 1.71 pts per game in all competitions...if we maintain this return, we'd end up with 88-90 points by the end of May - time to start believing?
Surely we can't be in for a Port Valesque fall down the table? Incidentally, of the clubs who were relegated from L1 last season, Chesterfield are bottom and Port Vale are in 21st place.

Another thing to note tha part of that average under PH was with weaker squad for the period involving last season.

There is nothing stopping us remaining unbeaten at home, this current squad is better than the previous one that achieved it. If we do that, and keep picking up points away it's looking very positive.
Key elements for me are keeping Hurst/Doig, Henderson and Godfrey.

I think we will get a clue to whether we can extend Godfrey's loan until the end of the season by whether Norwich allow us to play him in the FA Cup.
If they intend to recall him in January, they won't want him cup-tied.
So if there is no such demand from Norwich, I would keep him in the side for Aldershot to make sure he is cup tied which may make his early return less appealing to the Canaries.

Do we really need to be so sure that keeping Godfrey is the most vital ingredient to our success I think we may have forgot about Bryan Morris! Don't get me wrong Godfrey has been excellent but is his influence as great as Henderson or for that matter Payne . Let's not get too carried away if he goes back to Norwich

Very different players, though. I do feel for Morris not really getting a look-in at the moment, it has to be said.

Points per game is surely only relevant to league games? The best indicator for me is that Hurst has now managed us for 46 league games and amassed 78 points. For 31 of those games he had a weaker squad and managed 41 points. If the current squad could do the same as last season's squad (1.32 points per game) from here on, we'd be in the play offs, though whether we'd get through them is another matter. It'll take a bit more to be in the top 2 but it looks a lot more feasible than it did - 12/13 wins, 6/7 draws and that's a fair few games we could lose and still be getting to 80+. Nice to speculate but one step at a time ...

if we are to keep the ratio of clean sheets and low amount of goals conceded henderson and godfrey staying till the end of the season is vital my first target is safety in league 1 then look at how we are then. how far we can go will be about consistency, not losing too many people to injuries, maintaining our fitness and how we adapt to teams who will be putting five across the midfield and try to stop the wingers and stifle us.so lots of variable we also have to recognize that the bigger teams have large squads and can rotate more

Brilliant stats. COYB

The lad is absolute class, one of the best centre mids we’ve had in the last 20 years. Oh yes, Godfrey is a premier league player in waiting without a shadow of a doubt. He is also exceptionally committed for a loan player. But he still most likely won't get a game at Norwich so his development here in a well performing team in a highly motivate and progressive set up is just perfect for him. Either that or the option is to go back to under 23 games and effectively the end of his progression. STFC win, Norwich win, and the player wins.

Can't see Henderson going anywhere. He's on a season long loan and United will still get a fee if he leaves them at the end of the season, so no incrntive for them to sell him in January.

May not even have to worry too much about the loans - if we maintain our current pace another 15 games we'll have 74 points before the close of the transfer window!!

Keeping Godfrey is vital. The midfield 3 provide a perfect balance. I've become a massive Norwich fan. If they were losing I'd be worried. An excellent win over Ipswich at the wickend. Godfrey has said on ifollow that he would like to stay for the season, so fingers crossed.
Cummon you Canaries!

Is Adams on a season long loan?
Can’t see him getting much game time as it stands
