Okay so time to start taking a look at the next man in the hot seat! A huge one IMO. We either go onto establish ourselves as a solid league one club over the next few years with a potential step up to the championship. Or we appoint wrong and fall back into league two, struggling to get out again!
The names in the frame I'd personally like to see:
Kenny Jackett Dave Jones Steve Evans Nigel Adkins Steve Cotterill Brian McDermott Steven Pressley
Any other names that stand out right now?

I still feel Ian Sharps has some role to play here. Perhaps in MJ's position.

despite our poor form, there is a reasonble squad, good facilities, new training ground on it's way, decent pitch and a new a supermarket being built - should attract plenty of managers.

Tranmere will have to pay compensation, use all of that money plus a bit extra and go all out for Jackett or Cotterill.

I think the way a rolling contract works is that he has a year left on it all of the time. If we sack him, he gets a year's pay off, if someone else comes in for him, they pay us compensation?

We need a manager who can motivate and play attacking football. Top two would be Ian Holloway and Steve Evans. I want to be entertained.

Steve Evans has shown his ability to get teams promoted and succeeding at this level. Isn't that what we want?

For all we know, the Chairman may have chucked him a few grand to apply for the Tranmere job. I would be amazed if we get compensation, i would imagine Mellon was at most 2 games from the sack for which we would have had to pay. I would guess RW has allowed him to go with this in mind. Best for both parties.

If Danny Coyne gets off to a decent start don't rule him out!!
Glad he doesn't seem to be going anyway as has done a very decent job with the keepers.

Paul lambert or Billy Davies are interesting shouts as in deed is Nigel Adkins. Nigel Pearson with the local connection and no nonsense approach may get this squad winning games too!

We may get compensation for the remainder of his contract but If the club are losing a manager to a Conference side( all be it a big one), what does that say about the standard of Manager we can attract? A league One manager will expect league One wages. An unknown Manager looking at us as a stepping stone is about all we can have if we are paying Conference salaries. Yesmans list will be a pipe dream. And how attractive will it be, We might find out that Mickey was doing a good job and had the Club punching at it's limit. You can only judge on what we were prior to his arrival. We were a L2 club, we have been built from scrap into now a lower L1 club which is about our natural level, so he been a success.

Sharps NO! Coach maybe but manager no chance
Holloway 😂😂😂
Jackett I don't see what the big deal is
Turner - no chance he would start playing people in wrong posturing and make us even worse!

On Salop's wages! when was the last time either of those worked for a club as small time as us? They aren't gonna be flattered by a Club who are competing with the Conference for managers. Try habitual short term appointees Micky Adams, Steve Cotterill or Graham Westley there about our level. Unless there's a former player looking for a very basic salary. Mark Robins needs a stable Club that isn't trigger happy and will allow him time to grow a side. Stevev Evans is controversial but has he ever done a poor job?

Stevev Evans is controversial but has he ever done a poor job? I guess that depends on how you view corruption. How many years ago? Punishment served for ''Contract irregularities'' an FA ban, no HMRC involved. How many MP's got reelected after the expenses scandal while only requiring to pay it back when caught? He's exactly what our dull, timid, quiet little Club needs. An aggressive boot up it's arse, a man with passion. Although I doubt the Chairman would ever allow a man who would stand up and be heard.

Holloway won't touch it - he is good mates with Mellon and Matt Williams, both who have left before they were pushed.
Cotterill is my bet.
